1966 front fender hole size for antenna?

The conversation in a different thread reminded me of a question I have.

Does someone have a 66 Pontiac that has the original right front fender with the radio antenna removed? I'm curious what the hole looks like and what size it is. I know some years had a notch cut out of the circle to index the antenna base in the hole.

Just went out and checked mine. The hole is round with no notch and is 1-1/8. I have a 1 grommet in mine.

You're likely right about them being the same size but I'd like to make sure. I want to have a plug ready for it when I pull the radio and antenna.

I'm sure I have a derelict 66 b body with an antenna hole. Tomorrow for a pic?

That would be great Ken, thanks. I thought Kevin had freed all the derelict 66's in your yard!

It would be nice to put in a stainless plug painted body colour.

I have some plugs I can check when the time is right.

Precisely what I was thinking of doing! Those snap in stainless plugs come in common sizes but if it does happen to be 1 1/8" I'm not sure if that will be one of the sizes available.

Hmm, I thought there might be a notch...

Did you happen to measure the diameter Kevin?

This helps a lot, thank you!

Thanks George, the Granger one looks hopeful. When I go to the city I typically drive right past the Acklands/Granger location on the southwest side of town.
