So yah the rad does leak, pretty badly too! I do keep the rad cap loose so it doesn't have as much pressure but for example in a 30 Km trip the rad is down about 1/8th so its not great. I'm waiting to hear from the film company and trying to figure out what Im going to do with this thing if I don't sell it....Oh yea heater core does also leak a bit I've found water on the passenger side floor.

just disconnect the heater core by inserting

a pipe in the entry and exit of the hoses.

two different size hoses

but what the heck. McGiver it.

eliminating the core.

I left the heater core hooked up but I tossed 2 cans of Rislone liquid copper in it and it seems to kinda worked. Basically when it weeps it fills the holes with a fine copper dust. Lets see what happens, I imagine the water pump loves it.. regardless if she keeps leaking shes getting another can.

I thought it was going to a movie car company. If trying to sell it on the open market, the globs of copper will be a big red flag for a potential buyer.

She is sold pending pickup Monday to the good people at MK picture cars for $4k. All in this adventure cost me about $2500 which sucks big time but is much better than getting stuck with this old girl. Either way now she gets to live a nice long life going onto trailers and being a movie star. Ive been driving her around and shes a nice lil cruise. Do love the 6 cyl for the fuel savings. Thanks again to everyone. Now I gotta find me a new car!

A good use for this old car, better to see it in a movie than scrapped. Good job selling it.

The Laurentian is long gone I called the guy about a month a go. Sweet car though. Messaged the Parisienne so I'll keep ya posted. Budget has changed a bit so I gotta get lookin for a serious deal. Parisienne looks good though. Is that the original spot for those mirrors? Looks weird to me.

Mirrors are definitely not original.

Pretty sure they would have been added after the fact by the owner, or possibly even dealer installed?  You have to remember that exterior side mirrors were an option back then, so if the car didn't come with them originally, an owner would have them added after the fact.

I've seen fender mounted mirrors on quite a few old cars over the years, even on a couple that I've owned.  I wasn't a fan of that mounting myself, as I felt the mirror was too far away to get a good image, but I can see that perhaps some people put them there so they wouldn't have to take their eyes off the road to look out of the side window to check what was around them.

From the US accessories brochure (couldn't find anything Canadian), it shows the accessory remote mirror and makes a point that it is mounted on the door for 1965, which I found interesting.

1965 US Pont mirror grp.png

So, my take is that they most likely aren't original, but would be considered to be "period correct".  Just my opinion, however.

mirrors on the  fender were  an after market option back in the fifties, usually installed in the driveway.

Good luck with your next purchase. I am glad to hear you are hanging in there and not turned off by your first venture. I know it stings but look at the $2,500 shortfall as part of your education and the knowledge you gained will be put to good use going forward.
