Looking for a correct steering wheel and horn ring for my 64 strato chief.....someone replaced the original back in the day with an impala wheel. functional but ugly. dm me please....
Interestingly, 64 and 65 Bisc/Bel and Strat/Laurentian share the same wheel, cancel cam, horn ring, horn contact assembly and medallion bezel (outer horn ring).
The difference is in the center medallion styling Chev/CP 64-65. But understand the medallion is integral to the bezel (manufacturer press riveted it into the die cast bezel), but it can be removed and re-installed in another bezel with a little work.
You would have thought with the big restyle for 65 that cross year would have changed, but it did not. I think the Impala/Parisienne wheel also carried over 64-65.
To your advantage, the wheel, horn ring and center bezel are pretty easy to come by. I went through this whole shebang myself for my 65, and ended up restoring a decent, but not perfect wheel myself, found a better horn ring on line, a bezel on this site, and restored my original medallion, mounting it in the better bezel. turned out to be a decent result after stressing out about it for quite some time. I mean, you gotta have the right wheel no question!
