Anyone with a 1998 Silverado 4WD or similar with factory tow hooks?

Or where do I find an assembly manual for one? That smashed one Im working on I think had the frame bent inward and Id like a measurement for the distance between the 2 hooks measured from the outside ends of the hooks, this one measures 39 9/16 inches. The hooks are 5 inches across. Im thinking the frame is bent about 1.5 inches.

I cant say about the hooks but I think the frame horns are 34 inches outside to outside on the four wheel drive trucks. At one time I installed plow harnesses on these and I am sure the frame was 34.

The frame horns are mangled, hard to get a good measurement as the edges are not straight. I think outside to outside should be 34.5 inches, my best guess measurement was 33 9/16. The tow hooks are bolted to the bottom of the middle of the horns so I thought the horn measurement would give me a precise number for the frame bend.

Probably better to measure the frame itself, hooks may be different. I measured my frame outside to outside and it's about 34". Not real accurate as I was looking through the plastic piece under the bumper.

Thanks, have a line on a body shop spec sheet for the frame measurements that will hopefully answer all my questions.

Found this order guide for the 1998, it covers all 1998 Chevrolet trucks 1500, 2500, 3500, plus the cab and chassis. It has all the option codes listed on the glove box door plus the standard features for each trim level. It may be available for other years and GMC?

Great link Don! I found the information kit for my 94 and it appears you can get them for trucks all the way back to the 30's!

My brain fog, my measurement is 36 9/16, not 39 9/16. So that translates into 1.5 inches closer together. In line with my other measurements/guesses of 1-1.5 inches of bend.

Still waiting on my body shop guy to dig out the frame numbers.

Thanks for the measurements.

Don

This is the front crossmember on the 4wd, it is welded to the frame behind the horns. The 2 braces for the crossmember are also welded in place. This view from the top shows a bend. Im thinking replacing the front frame section is looking like the best possible solution. A5A1AC92-D6BB-467D-87D1-37B713F9E6F2.jpeg
