Partsavatar.ca --- Anyone use them?

The talk about Rock Auto got me thinking, I keep seeing Partsavatar.ca and they have good prices also. Does anyone here have experience with them?

I haven't personally, but a coworker has. He bought rotors and brake parts for a van and their pricing and shipping was great. Apparently they charge a hefty restocking fee, though it may depend on the items too, not sure.

Hmm, that's good to know. That could be a deal breaker if a guy is uncertain when he orders.

I used them a couple of years ago to buy some seals.

Their prices were on par with Rock Auto , but during the

Pandemic I didn't want to worry about a long delay or lost parts (package was really small) coming from the U.S.

The seals came from a warehouse in Edmonton and were delivered by Canada Post.

Big advantage is no border issues and costs to contend with.

Their offices are in Toronto, Montreal and New Delhi and Bengaluru, with warehouses throughout Canada.

I had no issues with ordering or delivery. With delivery being so costly now, it would be a good idea to

check total cost between Partsavatar and Rock Auto.

After I asked the question here, I read some Google reviews.........not so good!

But I'm glad to hear that they are a good alternative according to a couple of guys here. I may give them a try sometime.

Just doing some parts shopping again tonight and went to Parts Geek.

Is this for real? I look at various places including the Better Business Bureau and it looks to be legit.

How can they sell a Spectra fuel tank for my 66 for $87 US including shipping to the North Dakota border?

Carl... Try this in the AM, I'm pretty sure it's on the Canadian side. Then call the USA # and see what the price is....

Carl... I just wanted you to see the phone #. I believe the tanks are made in Montreal area. I just went on the parts geek site and got the same info. ORDER it online, then call them. You can always cancel.
But your tank and mine should be the same, but notice the SKU # and part # is different. Says they have 10 in stock of that cheap tank......

Apparently the neck is a bit different on the Chevy tank vs the Pontiac tank. But wow, what a difference in price.

I can hardly believe this will actually happen if I order it, the price seems way too good to be true.

However, Paypal should have my butt if the deal goes sideways. I'm tempted to try it just to see....

Roll the dice!!! You have nothing to lose. It may take 4-6 weeks to get your $$ refunded if it's wrong. But $87...HUH, 2 containers of synthetic oil at CTC.
If I needed a tank, this would have been ordered yesterday...
Like a "breath of Canadian fresh air" after 2 years of C19, and high shipping and costs...

I did an online chat with a sales agent from Parts Geek and told him I will only buy the tank if it's Spectra, that I would not accept a substitute of any other brand. Screen shotted the conversation where he assured me it would be a Spectra tank.

I think I'll give it a shot. Paypal is normally very good at siding with the buyer if there's an issue.

It's nuts isn't it. I'm wondering if Spectra has discontinued this tank and has blown them out the door for next to nothing to their suppliers.

So the 37K  is actually specific to a 65 66 parisienne acording to the spectra and rock auto sites.  the 37C is impala,   didnt realize they made a proper pontiac one.  has this always been available? i thought guys just put up with the impala one as close enough.

I know they had the GM37K at least 10 years ago because I bought one for that black 66 Grande Parisienne that our member from Edmonton, Tom purchased from me. And I recall it being a perfect fit whereas guys told me it would just be a Chevy tank with the filler neck at the wrong angle.

Tried to place an order from Parts Geek and it won't let me because my credit card bill is mailed to a Canadian address.

Tried to do it paying with Paypal and that method of payment won't let me send it to a US shipping address... Weird thing is, I can buy off Ebay using Paypal and get that stuff shipped to my US address!

In the past for my 62 Chevy, I could buy for $100-160 for the spectra, from the us suppliers. Spectra sold them for $560, both costs in Cdn. An acquaintance lived in bc next to a spectra plant( they have one in Quebec too), same deal from local suppliers, $450, or way cheaper to buy it after it was shipped to the us.

Picked up my tank today at the border on the way home from a long weekend in Minnesota. Exactly as advertised by PartsGeek, Spectra tank for the price they said. In spite of reading a lot of negative reviews about them, they came through for me exactly as stated. Shipping was quick, description of item was bang on and pricing was as stated. Nice to find a deal on something these days because wow, all we seem to encounter is rising prices.

Great....BUT, don't scratch it up taking it out of the box....just in case. Make sure it matches up.... THEN you have the great deal !!!!

Hope it's correct Carl.... just speaking from my year of C19 shipping/wrong product issues
