Its a traffic light viewer. At an intersection you cant see the traffic lights because of the sun visor over the windshield.

 Traffic light mirror? You can see the light without looking upwards when you are close to the intersectio.

These were very popular in the US but almost never seen here.

Many stoplight fixtures in the US were positioned in the center of the intersection and people

had to bend their head to look up and see the signal. This device and several others allowed

the driver to view the signal from a comfortable position......smile.
