Incredible Musclecar Story

Not a Poncho however an excellent story of a rare HEMI Challenger with a legendary reputation in Detroit and it's original owner. Thanks to Vince for the heads up. I'm not sure how I missed this documentary

Yup. That was a good one. I remember watching it quite awhile ago.

Kind of sad to see it being sold however the family will be pretty well positioned financially after the sale.

The story is very cool and certainly added to the value. I read the story a year ago and was fortunate to see it in person at the Detroit autorama this spring! Big bucks! ak

This guy thinks it may be a scam. He makes a lot of good points.

 Uncle Tony has succumbed to the YouTube fame demon. Calling out other people and chastising others strictly for views on his videos, and especially calling out the son of the original owner, what he does, and where he works. Hes definitely walking on thin ice when you start doing crap like that especially on a worldwide stage like YouTube . Could lead to seeing who has deeper pockets for lawyers in a libel case.
Why would someone need to make a video on this and call it a scam is beyond me. Sure, it may be embellished but it got people excited and nostalgic, and its a cool car either way.
The purchaser has already come out and said that he overpaid for it but he does not care In the slightest. He wanted it, could afford it, and paid for it. Wants to drive it to cars and coffee meets and park between McLarens and Lambos so kids can see a muscle car and old guys can talk about the old days when there were real muscle cars.
Always someone that has to $hit all over a feel good story. I give up on Uncle Tonys Garage. Was a fan from the beginning of his videos but hes now peeking down the rabbit hole towards a$$holiness. Just my 2 cents.

I wonder whatever became of the 1970 Challenger R/T SE Hemi that was in Ancaster that I remember back in the 70s? It was one of only Four built. The original owner, a guy with long hair & a pony tail, kept the car like a museum piece even back then, although I did see him take off in it one afternoon along with another local with a '68 L-71 Corvette to establish who was King.

This is an awesome read if you like street heroes.
The Black Ghost is a VERY cool car but it didn't beat these two Kings of Chi town !

I watched the video about this car a short while ago;
Lets forget for a moment the "story" about the car;
It's a super rare 1970 Hemi Challenger, with a manual transmission in a colour (3x by the way) that is currently one of the most popular "colours" - and was seldom offered back then.

Who cares if the story is legit or not, a Hemi car is still a Hemi car...
I am not in the financial position to afford a Hemi anything - but is anyone REALLY surprised that a numbers 1970 Hemi-four-speed car broke the million dollar mark at a big auction?

Now, this blow you-tube blow hard stated that a 1970 Hemi Challenger is a fifteen second car...
Yup, there it is...
Sure many may have been in the fourteen second range, and from what I have read a 440-6pack car was alot easier to setup, and maintain, but a properly setup Hemi-four speed(!?) - there's a reason they demand the big bucks.
The Pure Stock Musclecar drags regularly has Hemi cars in the teens, and I did a quick look from the 2022 shootout - the first one I came across was, in it's very first run broke twelve seconds.
That should really surprise nobody.

That was the only Hemi Challenger at the PSMCD for 2022, but how's this for consistency:
qualifying round: 12.636
first round: 12.608
second round: 12.638
third round: 12.509

I recall in the 1990's the stories in PHR and such about the HEmi cars duking it out with the Buick 455 Stage 1 cars - and then this one particular 1968 Firebird - those cars always being the fastest... and no fifteen second e/t's were seen among them.
