Hurricanes 2023 Atlantic

IMG_7356.png

This year our water surface temperatures are hot, Ive seen over 80F on Mahone Bay on my boat, about 10F above normal since Ive had a boat which is since 2003.

Youve seen the hurricane hitting California etc and dropping off the charts rain there. We had triple normal rainfall here in June and July, august so far has been double normal. These numbers are off my weather station, we got one storm this month that was 20mm or so while Halifax, an hour away, received over 120mm in that storm so Halifax is likely already triple normal rain for august.

Yesterday 2 new weather systems became named storms in the south Atlantic, Emily and Franklin, a third one has benn numbered, SIX, but thats been there for a few days. The numbered storms are possible hurricanes, pre-reaching the stage of severity and pattern of a tropical storm. Tropical storms can develop into hurricanes. So 3 potential hurricanes is bad with 2 happening in 1 day.

Batten down the hatches for Aug, September, October, November, maybe December this year. Wildfires, floods, drought, hurricanes, heat waves, and tornadoes, 2023 has been by far the worst weather Ive ever seen.

There's a freight train of storms coming out of Africa. The rain we've had this summer has been unbelievable. We'll certainly have to keep an eye on these systems.

We had a torrential rainstorm today at work. A small storm cell appeared out of nowhere and drenched us for about 20 minutes. We have weather advisories for tomorrow for more heavy rain. It looks like Franklin will give us another drenching next weekend. I guess on the bright side the garden loves all this rain (as long as you can keep the slugs and earwigs at bay). This "rogue" butternut squash started from a seed that was in our compost pile. It's growing about 6" a day!

You should do a time lapse photography of the growth.

Looks like it will miss NS.  NL might get a brush, but it's looking like it will pass to the south.

It's heading towards the house. I'm afraid it might strangle me in my sleep!

Uh-oh.

You've seen Jack And The Beanstalk (well, more the Beanstalk Bunny version...), right?  You might wake up in the morning and be in the clouds...

LOL. I'll soon need one heck of a big tarp to cover it if we get a frost!

Im guessing Franklin will have some affect on us, waves, rain, some wind. Its supposed to hit 215kph sustained winds, bermuda is in trouble.

Another probable hurricane has formed in the Caribbean, could head across the Gulf of Mexico and hit florida, then go back into the Atlantic. Its still August. September is usually the big month.

There is a possible hurricane starting up in the Caribbean, its November 16, very late for this to be starting up.

We have a noreaster coming through tomorrow, 40-70mm of rain, wind of 40-90kph.
