UPS Rockauto fees????

Anyone order recently from Rockauto? Im only offered UPS as the shipping option on checkout. They always charged large UPS broker fees of $50-100, do they still do that?

Thanks,

Don

My last one that came UPS had no extra fees attached. This was 2 weeks ago.

Typically RockAuto indicates that the brokerage, etc fees are already included. Take a closer look at the quote.

Rockauto says that broker fees are included, I just dont trust UPS and their fees, they invoice you after the fact separately when I got goods on eBay. Maybe theyve made a deal with rockauto or stopped adding surprise fees.

So far no matter who has brought my Rock Auto orders, there has never been any fees or charges after the fact.

UPS's fees all revolved around them doing the customs brokerage. If they're not doing the brokerage, they can't charge you fees.

Yes, I purchased an aluminum radiator on EBay and UPS sent me a message two days after it shipped with an invoice for $75 US for brokerage. I still think I got a good deal on the rad but there was no mention of brokerage fees on the shipping quote. Last time I something shipped from the states it was FedEx and all the costs were in the quote. I havent used UPS on Rock Auto so I cant say if you will be charged brokerage after the order is placed.

Rock auto covers all the broker fees.   I just ordered a 300 dollar order from them and it shipped UPS (usually its fedex) .  all was fine.  this was 3 days ago.

Anytime in the last couple years of buying something on eBay from the US the only option was to use eBay International Shipping.   It's a gong show but includes customs brokerage and eventually shows up.

None of UPS, USPS nor FedEx were options.

It's "hit and miss". All of them will try to "jam" you when they can...Canpar/Purolator (owned by Canada post here) Fedex, DHL (bandits) or the new favorite. The 3Rd party delivery service... I just  last week ordered a part from CPP in California, $89 part and $70 shipping, small box, 7 pounds. They use Fedex. It shows up with big COD lettering and invoice for $70 CDn for shipping, brokerage and customs from Windsor... WTF

I've had several RA orders delived by UPS recently, no extra costs.

I think RA has this figured out pretty well. Not like in the past with some of the fiasco's with EBay.

Also, I'm using the "could ship from same location as entire cart" truck icon, and the choose for me tab when filling the cart and continuing to shop.

It can actually save few dollars if shipped in one go.

So you paid $89 for a part, $70 to ship it to you and then got an invoice for another $70 Canadian when it arrived?

The extra $70 FedEx charge would be for their customs brokerage fees and associated duty & taxes, you've already paid for shipping.

I am so lucky to be on the Border not to deal with that. Buy most of my stuff from eBay, Summit or ground up and ship to my US mail box. The other week I bought 2 sets of square port heads and UPS wanted $647 to ship from Alabama to my mail box in 4 packages. Got the guy to strap them to a small pallet and drop them at Fastenal branch to branch shipping. Took only 2 days to get to the branch. Total weight 320 LBS total cost $182

Yes sir!!    AND... That's not the first time.  It happened during C19 a number of time, 4-5 times. When I ordered parts from the USA, Fedex, Canpar and DHL were the worst. You can try and be specific when ordering parts from some suppliers, but most use 1 or 2 shipper only. I'm finding it more and more when it gets to the border it's a crapshoot, not consistent. They are using small local trucking services, most with no markings on the truck.  Since then I've not ordered any parts or used summit/Jegs who are "upfront" with the charges.

I got stiffed by CPP last time. I have a mailbox in Niagara too. They would not ship to it because it was not the same address as the billing address. I'm finding that more and more..

When I've run into trying to ship to a US postal box and paying with a Cdn credit card refusal, I've found a way around it by paying with Paypal.

I have used them a few times and they are great.   I wish they had a simpler lookup like rock auto though
