Halifax/Nova Scotia members??

I'm looking for information on a car dealership that is/was in Halifax. Carroll Pontiac Buick on 44 Bedford Highway.

Any info appreciated...

THX in advance

What kind of info are you looking for?

The car lot still exists as Steele Chrysler.  The building is the same but received a makeover when it switched over.

It's visible on Google maps from 2009.  Here's a link:  https://maps.app.goo.gl/EEjGwRdHMKcEDfMN6

I don't know much about the dealership, other than remembering that it was in that location (I lived across the harbour back then, so I was more familiar with the Dartmouth dealerships).

Before Carroll it was Brett Pontiac - here's a commercial from 1988:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F3SdacaBTuc

The following is just from me doing a search to satisfy my own curiousity... you may or may not find it to be interesting/useful:

Strangely, if you google the dealership, there is still a yelp review for it, even though it's been gone for a long time.

Bloomberg says: "Carroll Pontiac Buick Gmc Ltd was founded in 1992. The Company's line of business includes the retail sale of new and used automobiles."

Here's an article about Carroll Auto Group written in 2013 (after the GM store in Halifax was sold): https://mags.businessinfocusmagazine.com/brochures/BIFNAAug2013/CarrollAuto-August2013-Brochure/2E74B055B40A0CD214E2E553DD53ACC3/Carroll_Auto_Group_BIFCA_Aug_brochure.pdf

I didn't realize until just now that the former owner passed away in October: https://www.donaldkwalker.ca/obituaries/john-paul-carroll/

Hope this helps.

Outstanding Mark!! I tried for 2-3 hours last night to find info on the dealership and the owner. Long story short... He bought and restored my 65 GTO when he had a GM dealership in Ontario. Then he moved back down east and I think had a Chrysler dealership and then he went back to GM. My car sat in the basement of the Chrysler dealership for years, (long time).
I looked for it back in the late 90's and apparently "missed it" by a few weeks, it was sold to someone local who then sold it to someone in Winnipeg (I'm told).
I checked the VIN last night too, the trial is cold...

Thanks so much

Carroll also owned the GM dealership in bridgewater, now also owned by Steele.

Hmm, can't recall seeing one like that but I'll sure watch for it at shows.

I was told it was restored again by Winnipeg guy. Entered in Pontiac Oakland yearly show and won best overall, something on those lines.... I have the VIN. I wondered if there was any way of tracing it the PO club....?

Mark... Is there still a Carroll dealership in the Halifax area. The article talks of the son running one of the dealerships in the group.

You're quite welcome.  I've always had an interest in the local dealerships, so this was good motivation to refresh my memory on this one.

Not that I'm aware.  It sounds like they moved most or all of their business to the south shore (DonSSDD's area), but they may have been bought out by Steele Auto:

https://steeleauto.com/about/steeleauto

"And in the early part of 2017 we welcomed to the group both Carroll GM (rebranded as South Shore Chevrolet) in Hebbville and Bridgewater Honda also in Hebbville."

Doubt it won Best of Show at the POCI Nationals, but I guess anything's possible.   If you have a POCI member post the VIN on POCI's Smoke Signals magazine stating you're looking for the car you might have a chance if locating it.

I doubt it too, just going on the conversation I had a few years back. I don't know any POCI members, I had thought of that already.

Bob, I was thinking about this a little more, and I assume you were wondering about the Carroll dealerships to get in touch with his son in case he had info about your GTO?

I did a little more searching and found this:

https://canadianboating.ca/news/current/chris-power-and-scott-carroll-are-proud-to-announce-the-opening-of-their-new-yacht-brokerage-atlantic-yacht-sales/

About Scott Carroll

Scotts passion for boating started at a very young age growing up on the water in Chester, Nova Scotia. Over the years, Scott has been involved in many aspects of boating, including working at a boatyard as a teenager, family cruising, sport fishing, competitive inshore and offshore sailing, delivering yachts up and down the east coast from Newfoundland to Florida, and managing the build of his own 46 Downeast sport fishing boat. After a successful 29 years in the Auto business, Scott sold his group of dealerships and turned his boating experience and passion into a career. Its a natural transition for me to be involved in the sales and brokerage side of the business. I am timely with both my communication and customer follow up. Based on my sales experience, I know what is needed to structure a deal and see it through to the end. Scott understands the importance of long-lasting relationships with his customers and is driven to provide the best customer service when looking to sell or purchase your next boat.

Then I found their website that has contact info:

https://www.atlyachts.com/our-crew/

Hope this helps!
