That place is very, very close to the Blue Lagoon. I visited Iceland in 2017 and went all over and have visited that town. Remember years ago when all the air traffic over Europe was grounded for 2 weeks due to the eruption of the Eyjafjallajökull (Ay Ya Fal A Yocul) ice cap in Iceland. We also walked through a crevice at the continental plate that opens a few cm. every year. There's always plenty of plate tectonics & Geo-thermal activity, in fact they make electricity & heat the pavement with Geo-thermal heat.
