What an interesting question!

I decided to do some online reading knowing there must be others who have wanted to do the same thing. Check this out maybe?

It says it fits but it mounts with 2 bolts instead of four. It does say it fits stock except with moraine booster so maybe that's what I have? Still cant find anything to fit though.

If someone doesnt pop up on here with your answer, I would recommend you ask this question on ChevyTalk in the 59 forum, post a picture of your setup and also post the link Carl provided. You can search that forum for this issue as well, there are some really good people there, like this site. Ive never done the dual master on an xframe.

The 59-64 would be the same, likely someone like Pontiax has done this.

I know the size of the booster and the size of the dual master is important to fit around the steering and valve cover. Maybe youll find a picture of a hood setup. Et

Thanks Don, will do. I tried a bunch of 59 impala groups on Facebook but admin never approves my posts. Too busy approving guys spamming t-shirts and porn I guess.

I have done this in a few 55/57 chevys and in my 59 parisienne years ago and last month in my 66 parisienne.My 59 is NOT a power brake car tho . The 66 is and i used Raybestos MC36239 from parts Avatar. From my experience one of the most important things is if where the pushrod goes into the back of the master is it flush to the master or deep about 1-3/8 inch. i can pretty much assure you it will be only two bolts.i suggest u unbolt your master from the booster and pull it ahead undoing the brake line is not necessary. you can then see if you need a deep or shallow master without guessing. rock auto has more and better pictures and usually shows the back

Thanks. It looks like a 2 bolt master may bolt on. There will just be an odd looing void above it. I'll probably go with a new master/booster combo eventually. Haven't decided on 2 or 4 wheel discs or not. Front for sure.

I did it to mine with a late '60s truck cylinder, but the original looked quite different to the one in Joe's '59. Mine is 2 bolt and the booster is different too, but remember mine is RHD.

I haven't done this yet either. I notice no one has yet commented on installing a proportioning valve in the system. Is there a preferred one that works with this setup for drum brakes?

I have a dual master and proportioning valve that came off a 4 wheel drum brake set up on a 68 Bonneville. My parts are very rusty and not usable without rebuild but the set up was a factory install so parts should still exist. Maybe FranksPontiacparts.
