Good tip on replacing the two small sections at the tank. A lot of us wouldn't bother to look there, and there is still probably many cars with original lines in the back.

There is a site for USA Canada ethanol free gas, check here- it lists stations in Ontario, I assume elsewhere. They have no N.S. stations listed, but we may still have ethanol free premium.

www.pure-gas.org/

And there is a simple way to test gasoline for ethanol, heres a good video. I found this out on an outboard site.

The internet is difficult to use to find ethanol free gasoline, lots of bad information and outdated information, and hard to get a straight answer from suppliers. Pumps around here say MAY contain up to 10% ethanol, if all gasoline now contains ethanol, why use MAY?

Id say the only way to know is to test it?

So what is the reason for forcing Ethanol on consumers against their will? Stretching fuel stocks? Sticking it to the Arabs? The "P" word?

Or even more insidious, wrecking all older gas-powered stuff in an effort to to rid the planet of them (not stated but certainly implemented). This I believe.

So ethanol has less energy than gasoline, which means you will burn more of it.

I am seeing that our representatives do not represent us, seeing as this is rammed down our throats against our will, knowing full-well the damaging effects. If it were a private company pushing a "defective" product they would likely face a class action suite.

Too late, in BC anyway. ALL gasoline sold here has ethanol.

I am trying to find out if the marine gas has ethanol. So far Ive had mixed answers. Unfortunately, thats not a solution for our cars, and its not really an option for my small engines either. They add dye to the marine gas to identify that road tax has not been paid (just like the gasoline/diesel that farmers can buy). That would be fine for my small engines, except that the dye plugs up the spark arresters. I have a Stihl leaf blower I was given by a neighbour. They had the carb rebuilt and it still would not get up to operating RPM. They gave up and bought a new one.
I played with the old one and heard about the issue with marked gas. Previous owner had been using the marine gas to avoid the ethanol. I pulled the spark arrester and it was almost completely plugged with a powdery substance. Wire brushing cleaned it up and problem solved. Runs like new.
So now Im stuck with adding Stabil to my gas, draining everything in the fall, running Seafoam through them in the spring and tearing apart carbs as required.
How many lawnmowers, trimmers, chainsaws, leaf blowers etc do you think have been junked because of the massive handout to farmers known as mandated ethanol.
Maybe its time to convert my small engines to propane.. Can you do that with a 2-stroke? Hmmm.
Or, convert to steam power and just burn the corn directly.

With out a doubt E does a number on our fuel systems, that much we know.

In working on my 2 barrel carb recently, I discovered that our old carbs jetted for gasoline, are not working as they should anymore with the E in the mix. Not sure of the science behind the issue, but it stands to reason as they each have a different specific gravity.

Now guys in the know are now re jetting their old carbs up to get them to atomize correctly. They usually go up two sizes by replacing the jets or drilling them out. So add some new drivability issues to the mix.

I have the same 2 barrel on my 85 boat on a four cylinder. It had carb problems form before I owned it. I've spent over 2 years getting it running right. Neighbors on the lake say they've never seen it run that good.... Never changed any jetting, but I'm all ears.
Just another vehicle to work on to make it perform better....LOL Ummm, before you and Carl comment, there is not enough room for the Big Block!!!!

People all told me I couldn't put a 427 in my 65 Canso without cutting it up. Your boat is no different. Don't ever tell a man that he can't do something because you know what he will immediately do.

Lucky dogs. From what I know, Manitoba has no fuel without ethanol.

UPDATED TIP OF THE DAY EVERYONE ETHANOL IN OUR PREMUIM FUEL AS OF LAST JUNE IN BC !

Hello everyone as we all know they are trying to add ETHANOL to all PREMIUM fuel here in Canada you are lucky in PEI I would test your fuel we had no warning in BC ! Anyway I called a very old carburetor rebuilder here in BC that I have been using for years to ask what can I do to prevent ETHANOL damage to my carb an to my surprise he had still thought CHEVRON 94 was free of ethanol here in BC an had just filled up, anyway he is getting older an slowing down an doesn't get out much anymore he was saying that lately he has had more rotten carbs than ever that he cant do nothing with so far gone and just thought people were not running premium fuel, so I asked what can I do I have not had any carb problems for years, I been running 3 fuel filters 1 before my fuel pump 1 after and that little one on the Qjet he said put a gate valve on your fuel line so when you shut the valve off on the car will burn off all the gas in the carb an the car will stop running when empty that means no ethanol in carb just air that's my tip of the day !
