Built a 1969 Master, Hold off and Distribution block line jig.


For my 69 disc conversion.

If you have the parts, and like to do you own lines, then I think a simple mock up jig is a way to make it easier to pre fab them close to the correct shape and length.

To me it's preferable than having to spend time in and out of the engine compartment. Plus it's a good way to visualize how they will route.

The Dist. block as shown in the picture is actually facing opposite as it should, and was eventually turned 90 degrees on the base. The estimated placement between the block and the master was figured from actual measurements of the 69.

 

And yes, I know it's a 70 Hold off, but I already had it and it's rebuilt

I saved all the old lines and just made new ones from the old originals-saved me doing all this.Angles and everything look correct above-the 69 and 70 metering valves were always sideways like shown above

Did 1969 ever come with the "no nut" hold off ?

I've seen pictures of 69's with the 70 style. Maybe a add on?

Here's basically how it measures in the 69. With the line loops, being exact isn't really required. Just close.

Or cheat like I did. I bought the complete pre-bent set of lines for my 69 Pontiac from inline tube .

I'll always at least try to make them myself. I find it very enjoyable doing the fine work like this.

I understand. I had to replace all the brake lines as soon as I bought the Laurentian and wanted to get her on the road. The brake fluid was like jello. Surprised I survived the trip home on the 401 when I bought it!

I believe it's cast iron. Maybe cast steel.

I am not sure but it may be possible that Oshawa cars were cast while other plants used the brass.

I was at London Brake and Steering yesterday, for a new nut, for my pitman arm.

They told me that an original brake block, that is made of steel, is better than a new brass unit.

So, I will clean up the original and use it.
