Funny moment

I'm working in the garage on a friend's car, a 67 Beaumont. Completely stock, 283, no power brakes, just power steering. I was working under the hood a couple of hours ago. My wife came into the garage to talk to me for a minute.

Keep in mind she's used to see me working on one of my cars and she knows nothing about cars. Both of my cars are big blocks and one car has air conditioning, so she's used to seeing that under hood view.

She watched me working briefly and then says "Why does it look there's so much room? I thought it usually looks a lot fuller under the hood!"

I didn't bother explaining about big blocks, small blocks etc. I'm still chuckling about it a few hours later.

Normally she just sees legs sticking out so she'd assumed you were always just sleeping. The fact she saw your eyes open under there was the surprise.

Why, you could tell her the vermin freed up a lot of underhood space when they moved out and took their belongings.

Or,
You could tell her the car was ridden hard and put away wet, and as a result the engine shrank when it dried.

Does she ever throw tools at you when you get cheeky with her?

That's because with the big block cars I can't fit in there. With this one I could climb in and close the hood, she'd never know I was under there.

Thankfully I married a woman who wouldn't have a clue how to be mean or do something like that!
