57 Pathfinder. GasTank currently

Hi All

New to the site. My son and I have a gas tank we believe is aftermarket for 57 Bel Air. It seems to line up, but the connection to the filler tube is pretty wonky. Too much angle and just a compression fit with an O ring.  We push the tube into the tank to seat it and then go to fasten the tube hangers which pulls the tube out of line even more.  So angles are all wrong. If you put the tank flat and level on the bench you see the tube opening is built on a slight angle -- not 90 degrees, more like 70 or so.  Wrong filler tube, wrong tank...maybe? Any advise out there
