I plan on adding power windows to the 69 Ragtop next spring. And as I currently have no body harness, I'll buy the main ign. relay, switches and the pigtails. I'll also make up my own harness.
Questions;
Could adding up/down relays at each window make a significant difference in the speed and function?
I'm thinking would certainly allow for a single very heavy power feed wire, with two lighter ga. trigger wires to each switch/relay/motor. Also it would keep the large current off the switch.
The motors ground through the body right?

Do you think there would be decent enough room/spots/space to mount 2 relays on a small plate inside the front doors? I'd think yes, but not sure. The rears could sit covered by the armrest.
And how do the window switches sit flush when on the door card? Is there a cut out recess in the inner door metal behind the switches? Do they need the cup that goes behind them?
Anyone have a shot of a bare 69 door inner? I bet I know someone here that can get one..

In answering my own questions, it appears there is a good void in the door frame to recess the relays, nothing behind where the switch would sit, and it would be easy to mount them in the rear as well under the armrest or behind the cover plate.
I'm not positive about the 69's but on the 66's the switch goes in where the crank was so there's no clearance issues when converting to power. I assume 69 will be the same.
