Differences In The Rear Brake Flex Line On A Convertible Compaired To A Sedan ?
(Preview)
(Online photo, not mine) My car has been on the hoist for 4 days now ! The problem is the rear flex line where it mounts and passes through the frame crossmember. There is a retaining clip for each side of the frame. Every part brought in has the clips too close together as if the cross member is too thick....

STICKY:
65-66 Rear lower B control arms, same as 67-70?
(
1 2
)
(Preview)
Are the rear lower control arms the same on a 65 as a 67? Reason I ask, is I'd like to detail and put 4 arms together pre conversion for a 12 bolt. I'd like to do a 12 4 arm to replace the weak and worn 10 bolt 3 leg (and both are loose!!) I have a pair of nice 67's lowers from our good member Cliff already. And have...

Need brake rotors for your Disc brake 67-68 Parisienne? Here's a solution.
(Preview)
Had a nice visit this afternoon from CP member Cliff (oshawacliff), who has a gorgeous Oshawa 67 Impala FB.He's been trying to find replacement rotors as his car has the 4 piston disk brakes. He brought along the supposed 67-68 direct fit rotor from Ecklers he purchaced. What we discovered is th...

Converting to Disc using a Combination valve. Flare nut size illustration.
(Preview)
CP'ers For reference, perhaps someone can use this someday. For anyone who has converted their 65-70 B Body from front Drum to Disc, or even to Disc Disc, you know that unless buying a complete system or kit, finding the correct tube nut sizes takes a little research. Even on the same line size, apparen...

Corvette rotors for big disc cars.
(Preview)
Corvette rotors on 69-70 Canadian full size Pontiacs. A few years back, upon starting my chassis restoration, I had decided that my 69' Parisienne would need disc brakes in place of drums on the front. A little more performace would demand that braking be increased as well. Remeberi...

Is a 69 B Tilt steering column rag joint different than non tilt?
(Preview)
I've managed to get a line on a 69-70 Tilt column that would be very welcome option in my 69. Questions; Is the rag joint different? Will the standard steering wheel fit right on without any special adapter? I'd like a deluxe comfort grip or walnut wheel eventually, but until then..

65-70 Rear Coil Springs
(Preview)
The 66 wagon I am just finishing parting out is a terminated restoration project. One of the things that was done was new rear springs. I'm amazed at the difference in wire diameter of the brand new rear coils I removed from the wagon compared to what I suspect are the original rear coils in my 396 Grande P...

Let's play "What happened here"
(Preview)
And I don't have the answer, only the problem. A couple of months ago I had to do pretty much a panic stop with my Strato Chief. At that time it did great and avoided a bad situation but the brake pedal did a tiny lurch towards the floor for about 1/2 an inch when I was pushing hard on it. Since then, I've notic...

1966 pontiac parisienne
(Preview)
Hey guys just bought myself a 1966 pontiac parisienne this past weekend and I've been doing my research to try and find parts. The body is in not too bad of shape and it's got a running 283 with a 2 speed in it. Now I'm trying to cross reference parts for all the bushings on this car and correct me if I'm wrong b...

Disc brake conversions, Now I am converted.

Did some engine adjustments today (less power/smoother idle). Me and my daughter took it out for a enevning cruise to test. Going through one of the little hamlets along #73 HWY (Elgin Road) and a SUV blew the stop sign at full speed infront of us. We did not have a stop sign. There was only about two car le...

F40 Panhard bar on my 66 Grande Parisienne
(Preview)
I recently parted out a pair of 66 Pontiac wagons, both had F40 HD suspension. I saved one of the panhard bars because my Grande Parisienne, odd as it may seem on a car with a 396 and air conditioning, was built without F40. Anyway, when I removed the plain suspension bar from my car today, this is what I've...

69-70 disc brakes, what pieces to grab
(Preview)
So I found a 69-70 disc brake setup but it's very rusty. For sure the calipers are junk, I don't think anyone would even accept them as a core. Backing plates are quite rusty at the bottom from sitting on the ground. Spindles are good, steering arms are good, caliper mounting brackets are good. What is w...

OEM looking and new style rear drums
(Preview)
Looks like 10 bolt and 12 bolt brakes are all the same on the 1969 B-bodies. I have a set of drums that are the newer style without the double lip on the inner side. The original double lip drums will need blasting and turning. Other than cost, was there a big difference between the two ?

I probably already know the answer, but are the B, F41 big front bar brackets the same as the smaller bar? Yes, all good....If no, does anyone have an old pair of bigger ones? Also, is the bigger bushing a readily available part? Thanks, Mark

Yesterday, while I was under the white 1969, I saw something that I just can't walk away from. I am not sure how this would happen but both rear springs were off location and hung up on the frame. The right side wouldn't even lower all the way. The car was on stands with the floor jack was on the centre of the d...

The correct 1969 Muffler hanger bracket

So, this is what I have. Four hooks, one cut. Two very different brackets. The left bracket is removed from the white car for demonstration. On the right side of the white car is a job shop universal hanger bracket. -- Edited by ABC123 on Wednesday 22nd of May 2024 08:04:10 PM

Gorilla Lugnuts (on the left) were a bit too big. I borrowed one from a friend to try. I ordered Dorman open-ended (centre), they should work. The shoulder was what I wanted the most. -- Edited by ABC123 on Wednesday 22nd of May 2024 08:24:57 PM

Hey Flatop! Your dual master cyl conversion?

I read in another thread about you converting your 66 to a dual cylinder using 36239 master. Just wondering how that job went and if you'd mind detailing in this thread the ups and downs of doing it. I figured it would ask in a new thread rather than contaminating the other one where the site member is look...

Built a 1969 Master, Hold off and Distribution block line jig.
(Preview)
For my 69 disc conversion. If you have the parts, and like to do you own lines, then I think a simple mock up jig is a way to make it easier to pre fab them close to the correct shape and length. To me it's preferable than having to spend time in and out of the engine compartment. Plus it's a good way to visualize...
