It's nice to see fellow drag race people. I race a 64 4 door Acadian at a local track in Saskatoon, SK.

The car has a 427 BBC, 2 speed glide, with 456 gears. The best the car has run is 10.99 @118mph with a 1.50 60 footsmile

I didn't have the hart to chop up a 2 door, so I rescued a 4 door from the bush. Up untill this winter, the car was street driven with hub caps and all!

Very impressive, to say the least!!! Love the hubcap look too.

Is it fully tubbed, mini, none??? What diff are you running? I imagine the stock 10 bolt is long gone...

The car is mini tubbed and yes till this year it was the factory 8.2 housing and axles! It had a auburn pro series posi and richmond 4:56 gears. When I did the 10:99 I recieved a warning because I need after market axles, Tranny shield and a SFI balancer.

This winter the car is getting a narrowed 9 inch with a spool and 4:10 gears (7200 rpm crossing the line was tapping the rev limiter.) I will alos try and stuff a 29.5 tall tire in as well.

back in the burnout box maybe? i think i have resolved most of the problems...id really like to get it on a chassis dyno and make sure i get it dialed in. im pretty new to this game so its a slow and frustrating battle, but i will get it working eventually.im reasonably happy with the performance after the 60 ft mark, just crappy bottom end. if i can knock 3.5-4 tenths out of my sixty i should be down at the bottom 12s with no other changes. i have also changed to electric fan/water pump with an aluminum rad this year. oh and of course the 3400 stall converter. also gonna run a 26" slick instead of the 28" mt radials. rob

Did any info turn up on this '67 Acadian?

Is any old AHRA record information available on the Internet anywhere?

Several things intrigue me about that '67 Acadian. The most obvious is Bill Knafel's choice to stuff a 427 under the hood, way back in 1967. I guess he realized the potential of a Chevy big block in a car he could race as a Pontiac, down in the USA. No doubt the 427 (unavailable in the Acadian) was one of the main reasons the car was B-modified.

Which brings me to the next intriguing point. Obviously, as a drag-racing Pontiac dealer, he accepted the Acadian as a Pontiac (see the giant PONTIAC painted on the car), and so did the A.H.R.A. However, the debate over "Pontiac...not Pontiac" continues to rage north of the 49th. shh.gif

I think thats over now.   Wikipedia was updated in Dec 08, and reports that "GM of Canada has confirmed"  the Beaumont and Acadian as Pontiacs.....    I sure would like to see more info on the  Knaffel car..
