Chatted with my middle man tonight and is for certain that this was a 396 car! I did get more info on the engine and it dropped a valve and the result was a split cylinder wall. Then it may have sat in the elements but now resides in a "vat" of diesel and gas! How long does it norminally take to get documentation back from Vintage?
With regard to the 396 / 427 cheetah engines. There is again varying rumors. I had heard that they were ordered as SD396 cars. (factory HPs were 325 and 360HP). Conroy then swaped them out for 396/375hp engines.
I think i have my HPs correct, i think.
There was some talk that the 396s were swaped for 427s as well, but i have never confirmed either story. Infact. i think it was Rons artical in the beaumont club newsletter, that suggested that there may have even been some 283 cars
PS. 67poncho, if you go to look at the car again, check to see if it has a scattershield. I have been told that all cheetahs had them. Will be an Ansen NHRA approved one.

MY BEAUMONT HAS 4 STUDDED TIRES AND 2 BLOCKHEATERS......AND LOTS OF OIL UNDERNEATH. The other one has a longer roof.
Re; 283 Cheetah I was told that 1 was built with a 283 for Conroy in St.Catherines in Ontartio and that was a 66 between 66 and 68, 25 of the 46 built where shipped back there for the top sales exes, and as far as scattershield(and headers and rear gear change) was only installed if it was ordered "RACE VERSION". If I remember correct my car was shipped to a numbered Co. in Vancouver, but I will chk the sheet next time I see Richard.(been over 20 yrs since I gave the car back to him) Ron
Well, I went to the post office today to see if there was a "special" package waiting there for me................ Nope!! Since my credit card was charged on May 14th, I was hoping to get the results back in time for the weekend! Maybe Monday...........?

I met I guy at the Monroe washington swap meet that lives in Vancouver that has two. Seems to be a little stuck up. I have 12 64-65 beaumonts and he has 2 modified big block cars and he thinks he's better. Who cares. If he loves Beaumonts he is cool, if he thinking Barrett Jackson he's dreaming. My call.
funny how they ordered a 396 in a 736 SD when they could have ordered a 283 SD ? being that they were going to pull the motor anyway and put in a 427? you would think they could have ordered it without a engine? ive seen cars ordered just in primer! i could see after december you had no choice but to take a 738 396 SD
maybe they had someone lined up for it,for sale?
wonder what they did with it?
might have some special options
Don Yenko ordered big block cars, pulled the 396's out to installed 427's didn't he ?
This is somewhat related to the engine questions. There is a black 67 SD in the GTA was originally a 283 car BUT it had a 396 installed under a Warranty Claim. Owner has all the documentation from Vintage Vehicle services to verify this. He is a member on here.

must have been an upgrade possibly after an engine was deemed toast-can't see GM paying to put a big block where a small block came from. So being a small block car originally its a 736 V.I.N. so in the documentation what made it a Sport Deluxe ? did it have all the trim ? We talked about this in another thread. George admitted to documenting at least one 67 Custom small block with bucket seats as a Sport Deluxe in error-wonder which one it is ?.

Also more practical to use a big block car as it would have the correct coil springs larger fuel line and larger rad, not to mention all the brackets and pullys and correct exhaust. And probably cheaper in the long run than trying to buy and install all this stuff in a 283 car.
Sounds like I might of found my guy. It's a small world. I might come across harsh but in person I'm very friendly. I will tell you something, when somebody acts like my mysterious chetah guy, it catches up with them.
OK,OK,OK,OK,OK,OK,OK,OK,OK,OK,OK,OK,OK,OK,OK,OK,OK,OK,OK,OK,OK,OK!!! I was out in the shop working, jeeeze!! TOUGH CROWD!!!! (lol)
Now, before I begin, I wish to thank all involved for this award winning pleasure of presenting this document to this wonderful site and of great Pontiac lovers world wide and blah, blah, blah... Sorry! Got overwhelmed.... !!
Seriously, I hope this is not a let down to any of you as I am unsure what you are expecting.... But, here it is...... Drum roll please.................

Would it have been a white stripe with a black roof? My guess is that it would have been the black stripes. Either way, I am sure this is a "one of one" car due to the way it has been optioned and the 736 vin. Sure hope this car gets a good home someday. There has never been another Beaumont that I would trade mine for.....
