1969 Rally Cluster.

For those thinking of getting one, here's a lit shot of the 69' Full size optional rally cluster I just got.
Looks nice, but I don't think there's any way the ammeter will work with the 115 amp alternator I plan to install. I might just try to get it converted to a voltmeter.
No problem with the oil pressure and temp gauge, the senders are still available for them.

Pretty nice eh Todd! Ah yes, the power of the Snipe! I know, stop already!
The Temp/Bat. Oil/Fuel can be removed from the cluster as a pair. So if there was someone out there that could convert the Ammeter, you'd just have to send that small part.

Does it look like a standard cluster could be converted if you had those gauges?

No, the rally cluster has 4 small openings. The std has 2 large openings.

Can you swap your old odometer over to the rally cluster?

I don't think you will have an issue installing that amp gauge with your alternator. How much of the wiring harness is different?
Williamson's Instruments in Arkansas should be able to convert that over if you wanted to do that. They will redo the lettering as well. They do nice work.

Now all you need is a tach. I doubt Pontiac offered one in the U.S or Canadian B -bodies however I wonder if something like this would work: Shiftworks now offers tach conversions for Chevelles that go where the factory clock went. I wonder if this tach could be converted for the 69 cluster to go where the clock is..

Thanks for the Williamsons link Brad. Eventually I might need it. The reason for my uncertainty about the ammeter, is I've heard and read, the resistor in the older ammeters will not be up to the output of a modern alternator. The one I plan on putting in output's about twice the stock amount.

You could put your old odometer in the new cluster no problem, the entire package comes apart.

I think you could adapt that Chevelle tach to the Pontiac clock bezel and lens with a little work. It looks to be close in size, the script isn't even that far off.
Or instead, just find a nice simple and clean mini tach and build a bezel for it and put the PMD lens over top.
