here it is sonbiggrin  and pictures of car   Carl2  Numbers Man said the SS conversion was because of 300 Deluxe car    note  15 made..  It went to Montreal for 35 big ones..

Was that car in Moncton up until the last year or 2?
I never saw it in person, but talked to a friend of the guys about it.

Is there any chnace of getting a larger picture of the paperwork?
I can't make out any of it.

I have 3 of those monthly listings from GM Canada, one for my 67 beaumont, another 67 beaumont i owned, and a 69 Firebird T/A ... when i finally get a chance to clean up my house (renovating) i will share the info on there...

Well, I'm sorry guys, but someone has to be negative on here with respect to this Registy in general. I have given a number of people in the past years copies of my documentation from GM as well as original bills of sale and have regretted this, not that I'm sure they are sharing with someone else. I have had COPO Chevelles, big block Canadian Pontiacs, Beaumont SDs, Corvettes, Novas, etc. and do not want the information I have given these people forwarded to others I do not know. I have watched for the last 25 years guys advertise in Hemmings, and over the last few years this character in Old Autos, advertise for a private Registry, which they indicate is for all, however I do not see them offering to give their subscribers a copy of ALL the information they receive. What I mean, to clarify this, is that if a Registry is to be prepared then everyone contributing should be entitled to an annual updated version of the list of cars on the Registry. If not, then in the case of this character out West, you are providing him with his PRIVATE Registry which he purports to supply you information if you request it on a public basis. The individual wishing to prepare this list I'm sure is on the up and up however due to these others that I have seen advertise in the past I certainly will not provide my documentation. With respect to the" key" issue shown on the early GM documentation; I must admit it is disconcerting, however I, together with countless others, have enough early GM keys that we do not need the keys codes to start a GM product prior to 1967 if we want to.

You make some very good points.

I won't be scared to give out my car info, MINUS key codes of course. For that matter, anyone can get all the info I would give them if they just call GM with my VIN anyway. And that's easy enough to get off my car if I am at a show and the car is unlocked. I could even pretend to show an interest in someone's car at a show and look at the last 6 digits when I open the door. For example, if I am looking at a 67 SD396 hardtop, I know what the first group of digits will be, so that last 6 is all I need to call GM with a complete VIN.

With that said, I thnk I know what you are getting at. If I give out the info, I would like to have the info on similar cars I share an interest in. Kind of "I'll show you mine if you show me yours" type of thing. I can't fault that logic.

There is another type of car I am interested in that I have gathered data for the purpose of keeping less than honourable individuals honest. In other words, the data I have will help discourage cloning of a particular desirable model. The bad part is I have shared this info publicly, and in doing so may actually be aiding someone in building a better clone in that it would be harder to spot if they use my data.

I've been able to stop folks from being taken when possibly purchasing "clone Malibu SS' or Beaumont SD's" by using the information I have. Let's face an unpleasant fact about this hobby. When it comes to money there's always going to be somebody trying to take advantage of the "less knowledgable" folks. I don't like to see it happen and I do my part to stop it as best I can.

That was one of the founding reasons why I started my car club and why I participate on this web site. I don't want to see someone get a "pig in a poke" when they think they bought the real deal.

When comes to getting a registry started the biggest issue to face are

1) security of the information given (the five W's)

2) the conditions upon which it may or could be used

3) getting the okay from the originator of the data to release or not

among other issues. I believe a lot of "soul searching" and "integrity checks" are going on in regards to the registry project. I know I spent the best part of a Saturday night talking to the originator of the idea. Seeing how I have a database on these cars we discussed what I do with requests made.

At present I gather the questions asked and pass that on to an owner of that particular model. Its then up to the owner of the car as to whether they talk to the questioner or not.

What I do tell folks is the production numbers if I have them or give them a "ball park figure" which I believe to be close to the actual number based on production trends. I glean as much information as I can out of the questioner to confirm what their telling me is correct or not. If it isn't then I say good-bye and wish them well.

At no time do I pass on any information on someone else's car.... That strikes me as a "dumb move", its not my place to do so.

I also have a "Monthly Listing of Vehicles Shipped" from the same day as the one posted by Mike (67SD396) but it is for Chevelles. I sent a copy to Dave Weir (Numbers_guy) way back in 1997.


It is interesting to note that by the time they had released 4626 Beaumonts, by Dec. 16th I have records that show Chevelles were at least up to 6122 produced (and maybe more, that's all I could see from my little snapshot).

Do we have any production figures on Beaumont convertible production (for sixes & eights, covering base, Custom & Sport Deluxe)?

Still looking for a 67 SD 396 built 1-3 weeks prior to his Dec car. Anyone have one so we can nail down the crossover date from 736 SD cars to 738 SD cars.

I realize that the info is available. It just hasn't made it out in the open yet.

carl, you just got me to thinking.... the sheets that i have for my car include 738 BBC cars, so i have sheets with both 736 and 738 SD cars... on the same month...

now i have to find the paperwork, i received mine from GM about 17 years ago ... i cant remember if it was from the paperwork from my car, or the gold/gold 736 sd that i sold....

Am I right in remembering yours is around the middle of November? Last I recall, we had it down to somewhere between Nov 16th and Dec 12 for the changeover, or am I wrong?

i'll look, but honestly guys i havent seen my paper work in a long time! off hand (i'm not near the car) i think my car was less than #400 off the assembly line, i cant remember the # off the gold car i had, but it was probably that monthly assembly sheet that had both it and other 738vin BBC cars on it... the reason i know this for a fact is that i picked two of them that had long option lists and called them in to Gm to get their buildsheets (back in the day when it was free!)... one was a green 396/350hp with air, the other a red/black top/redline tire car... i remember that much about the two i called in... i will try to look at home for that paper work sometime in the coming weeks... i have perogies on my mind, not build sheets!hahaha!!

Oh it still helps. It confirms what is suspected, that early SD cars are 736

Someone will come along with one the last 2 weeks of Nov/1st week in Dec one of these days and that will really help.

And as I said, the info is there but just not being shared.
