68 SD Upgrades

Here are a few pictures of my newly redone, almost completed engine compartment. Everything was removed from the engine compartment and the compartment repainted. The engine had a few exterior upgrades like valve covers, a Stewart water pump, leaks fixed, intake bead blasted, new plug wires and looms and was  repainted. A new wiring harness was installed, newly redone upper and lower control arms and most of the suspension parts replaced. Newly rebuilt 4 piston brake calipers and brake pads were also installed. The T400 transmission was rebuilt and a new 3500 stall torque converter installed. There are still a few small things left to do but it should be finished this week. Carl S should like this first picture.

As a matter of fact, that first pic is my favorite!!! Looks great on there.

Now, might as well wait for Carl2 to come in here and make some comment about the decal on therebiggrinbiggrinbiggrin

Or, as usual, he could remain totally silent.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, I crack me up!!!

Looks like you've spent some serious detailing time on there.

Thanks for all the comments. I really like the valve covers too. It took me a while to find covers that I liked. I went through a few set until I got the Edelbrock ones. I think the decals are the final touch for the engine compartment. The only problem I have with them is the horsepower rating needs to be about 100 hp higher. The cam is the Crane 103072 hydraulic cam with 282 duration and .533 lift. It is a good street cam with good midrange power. I have 2" Hooker Competition series headers with 3" exhaust all the way back and Pypes Violator mufflers. It has a 12 bolt posi rearend with 3.42 gears. I like the 3.42 gears for highway cruising. The car still needs some work. The next project will probably be to redo the dash and insrtument panel. It is presentable as is but I want to redo it. Below is a link to a few pictures of the car.
