I live 20 minutes away from this car ... I'm going to see it, and I might buy it.

I'll give it a good home, and I WON'T hack it apart!

Well, what happened?

From what Carl tells me the car is rough. Rust in rear window area, doors, rear quarters and frame has been repaired using square tubing (!). Engine runs poorly. Chock this one up to needing a lot of TLC (Tons of Loot and Cash). I hope someone saves it.

Yep, I was in contact with the seller also ... there is a lot of work to do to the car ... it probably needs a lot of new skin! Rust under the vinyl top, a bad paint job that is bubbling. The car looks good from afar, but far from good.
The interior is nice, the drivetrain is untouched/all there, but the frame has been boxed.
Oh well, if someone has the time, $$$$, and help (I can't spend that much on a car because I'm restoring a 150+ year old farm house here on the Island), it will be a fantastic car!

Too bad it isn't in better shape, but still sounds workable.  For the rarity and uniqueness of the car, hopefully someone will fix it.

Thanks for the update, guys.  Better luck next time.

Just out of curiosity, would that frame be the same as a '68 Impala unit?

I think this car is a better buy than the 69 2+2 that was for sale a while ago, just because of the color combo. I really want a big block Pontiac, but I just couldn't warm up to that 2+2.
This one is too far away for me though.

Its a toss up! except the 68 is half the money to start!   That is where most projects go astray...

The owner called me today, and wanted me to pass on, that this car is not rotted out, and has safe frame repair, and is drivable. I had passed on car ,because I wanted to drive it ,immediately home 1200 miles... He says the locals are looking for more car, for the money, something that is perfect ,and ready to go...   He seems to think, we could help him find a buyer, who knows how rare it is    1 OF 30 is very rare.. how many of those are left?     If I had a xtra 8500 I would buy it, and leave it with Peter, in Sackville, until I could drive down and trailer it home ... There is a dealer in P.E.I.who travels to car auction in London EVERY week..He has 5-6 car carrier.. If anyone can think of someone who can save this!!!!!  please call owner.. The 69 4 speed was 16 thou? wasn't it?

In my opinion it would still need a frame swap. Did you ask him his lowest price or is he firm?

I think it's awesome that you're trying to find a good home for it. Way to go.

FWIW, even with the frame repair it still looks like a pretty good deal, given the rarity and uniqueness of the car. It does deserve proper treatment, and I agree that a frame transplant would probably be the best course of action, without actually seeing the level of corrosion in person. Hopefully someone with the desire to save it and the means to do the work will snap it up.

I would imagine there would be some Chevy fans down south who would jump at the chance of getting probably one of the most unique 427-powered cars there is...

Still wish I had the means to get it, though...

I think Dave should buy it for two reasons:
1) He has experience doing frame swaps
2) He needs a new avatar biggrin

It really is a tough decision. Like a lot of guys here I'd be all over it if I didn't have a toy already and a pile of landscaping to do this year (walkways etc etc-the expensive stuff). Too bad GM of Canada didn't have a museum. That would be a perfect piece.. Maybe I should open a Canadian Poncho museum!

Todd, you just celebrated surpassing 400 members...if we all throw in 20 bucks its ours! First piece in the museum. I have plenty of experience in incorporating Not-for-Profit Corporations, it can be done.

PS. I made it to Guru!

I like to buy it and give it to Todd so he could have the rarest car...biggrin I have a friend who will go get it, and the owner must have a friend on the site, as the figure he adjusted to, was one I has mentoned, in a response to TODD..  MAYBE i'll wait and see if it drops to parts car price  cry
