RE: 68 427 Grand Parisienne in PEI

If it drops too low, it will become a parts car as mentioned. I don't even want to think of that happening. I have parted 2 427 Ponchos in my lifetime, and that disgusts me when I think of it. Especially the red convert.

Any idea the cost to ship it to Ontario. Carl, you mentioned the owner had a friend who goes to London on a regular basis. Did he mention a fee to bring the car?

Owner said a 69 cutlass was going there Tuesday for $ 700.00 cash  so he presumed it would be in that range to go to London Ont

This car looks interesting, but I checked the cost of shipping to Calgary. Ouch!!!! $2528. if I get the Antique insurance with the shipping, $2198. without insurance. I don't think it makes sense for me to try and save it in Calgary.
If you were the seller, would you be insulted if someone said the price is OK but that would have to be landed in Calgary?
I don't know whether to make that kind of an offer. Please, someone in Eastern Canada, buy it and let me know that it is in good hands so I don't need to think about it any more.

Rick

I'm in Ajax, 20 minutes east of Toronto. If someone can figure out the price to get the car here for a fair price, I might be a buyer at $7000. And yes, I will restore it to it's original beauty. Gotta love that front end, dont you? Of course it's hard to tell by looking at pictures, but interior looks pretty decent. Might make a half-decent driver while restoring.

Man, that car needs to find a good Pontiac home, and soon. What if someone buys it for the engine???

That would be such a shame.

It's just not the year I want. If only it was a 66..............

Gregg, the owner of the car, said he knows someone that  travels to car auction in London every week that might be able to bring it down for 700$

 Good day all

If all goes well, the carrier company should be paid today, car picked up within 48 hours, & on it's way to it's new home in beautiful Alberta. Will it be a parts car or a donor ?? Hell no, it deserves a better home than that. It is going to a pontiac nut that tried to buy the twin to this car last year, but the owner backed outta the deal. It will be outta provinced inspected & have the **** driven outta it !! The rest is history!!

Just talked to the new owner, the bill of sale has been recieved this morning, so it's a done deal.

What I don't understand, is all the tire kickers here, that have a rare opportunity to own such a rare car. It may be a diamond in the rough, but it's super rare. It makes my canadian imported hurst olds look like a everyday car !!

Anyways, congradulations to the new owner (My buddy & hero). To the people that kicked Greggs tires, well maybe the next one to come up for sale will be a better deal ! If there is another weirdface    Darcy

Double Congratulations to the Pontiac "nut"   I was one of the tire kickers, and I have no regrets, now, that it is going to a "Pontiac" home.. We were all kicking up dust, so the new owner could "FIND IT" lol    Very good news!!    thanks CARL TK2 biggrin

That's the only problem trying to sell cars on here. Most of us already have one sucking our finances dry!

Well said Hillar, I'll add in that my first born is 21 today and Law School is not cheap, about the cost of a fully restored GTO Judge for example! Geez let me think Judge or Law School......, hey that's a pun....I may get both for my 60 grand!

Great news!  Congrats to your friend, I hope he can join the forum and keep us updated on its restoration... just because we care! smile

I'm glad to have been able to have some part in the saving of this super rare, super unique car, albeit a small part.

Tire kickers?  I don't see it that way.  A car like this, to a true car enthusiast, deserves the best of attention.  It needs to be carefully documented and researched, properly restored, and then lovingly preserved and cared for.  It's a lot of responsibility IMHO, and requires a lot of time and resources that most of us don't have.

In my case I live on the wet salty east coast and I don't currently have a garage or enough money saved to even purchase a car like that much less give it a proper restoration.  Potentially, I could have borrowed the money to buy it and park it in my driveway (outside) until I could procure the money to restore it and find a place to store it inside.  Personally I feel it would be a little selfish on my part in that I could not give a rare car such as this the care it truly deserves.

So from my perspective, I'm happier to see it go to a good home than see it rust in my driveway.  I can't speak for everyone here, but reading between the lines I see a lot of true enthusiasts who really wanted to see the car saved but like me, for whatever reasons, weren't in the position to do it.  I think we all wanted to keep it from falling into the hands of a drivetrain extractor who would put the engine in a Chevelle or something and toss the rest of the car.  Don't laugh, it happens in the Mopar world all the time.

So I say "good on ya" to your buddy... I'm overjoyed that this one will not be lost!  smile

Thanks for letting us know.

Thanks for the credit, but my part was only small.  The real credit belongs to the new owner who is electing to give it the care that it deserves.  It will be a long road requiring a lot of expense and commitment.  Many kudos and may the Canadian Pontiac gods smile on him!  biggrin

As I said in the previous post, I'm just glad that this one isn't going to be lost to somebody who doesn't have an appreciation of the real value and significance of this car, and that it won't become another big block donor.  clap.gif  beer.gif
