'65 Catalina 2D Sedan

Being a newbie, I thought I'd share some pics of my restoration.  Notice I included a part only found on Canadian Pontiacs (standard on the Custom Sport).  Can anyone elaborate a little more about this vac gauge?  Did they make in-dash units for other years besides '65?  Does it show up in the '65 accessories catalog?  Oh yeah, it's going in my car since I have a bench seat.  U.S. vac gauges were all console mounted and much larger...quite common too.  Standard on every Grand Prix unless you opted for bench seat/column shift.  There are rumours the some in-dash vac gauges were installed on Grand Prix's.

I drove a 69 Impala 2D sport Coupe for about 6 years as a daily driver. Gold with a black vinyl top. Originally a 327 2 bbl, Powerglide. I converted to Q-Jet and a TH-400. I always wanted to find a nice 69 Chev Post car...Biscayne with a 427 4-speed would be cool, but theyr are rare.

Neat car. The vacuum gauge was factory installed in one of the three dash pods in the Parisienne Custom Sport (the Impala SS equivalent) model only. I put one in a non-CS Parisienne convt I once had. Personally I like the dash mounted vac gauge better than the console mounted one as used in the US GPs.

Hey, just caught this post.
Nice pics, how's it coming?
Sorry, no new info on the gauge

Both still require a lot of work.

Hello, I just discovered this site!  Great place for info etc.  Speaking of vac gauges and resto's, does anyone happen to have a spare vac gauge like this one? Can be in any condition.  Also seeking a pwr lock switch. I Recently did a frame off on my 65 C/S vert and the gauge I have is sticky due to a chipped gear inside.    Thanks

I am pretty sure I have one of those vacuum gauges, in fact, I think I have an entire 65 dash in my garage somewhere.  If I recall correctly it is loaded, power top switch, reverb switch, etc.  I'll try and have a look on the weekend.

If I actually had enough space in my garage to accomodate a few lawn chairs, we could have a garage party!  As it is, there is just a narrow trail down the middle with stuff piled up against the walls on both sides.  I really have to stop going to swap meets and picking up everything that "looks interesting" or "I might need this some day".biggrin  But if it ends up helping someone on this board out, it was probably worth it.smile  I would like to get a car back in my garage one day though....wink

Excuse us for Highjacking the thread. Sorry I took so long to respond Hillar, I had to make a foreign exchange deal for Ethiopia, $120,000 Canadian whatever that is in Birr.

Anyway, yes on dual snorkle, see photo. Those yellow wires are the 5th set I bought and the only ones that fit decently so far. They are for a 73 Chevelle.

Make a list of wants (needs) whatever. I may have a couple of leftover 66 pieces that are the same as 65 stuff. Not sure how much or what, but there may be something you need in my basement as well!

Welcome aboard Matt. Cool car. Looks like future feature car material! Just goes to show you that you don't need a huge garage to get great results.
Keep us posted on your progress!

Great!   If you do have the entire dash, I may be interested in the whole thing.  Let me know what you find.  Thanks,

Yup, I've got one of those vacuum gauges and a dash complete with a power antenna switch, a reverb switch and a power top switch.  PM me if you are interested.

OK, I'll see what I....or I should say what my wife can do about posting a couple of pictures. She is the computer guru in the family. The car is Aztec Bronze with a fawn interior, all original.
