Cool. New Zealand! Someone will chime in shortly. In the meantime, I'll find you the contact info for GM to tell you exactly what the car was from the factory.

George Zapora at General Motors Canada is the fella to reach out to.  Contact info is:1-888-467-6853 or 905-440-7636 or email george.zapora@cc.gm.ca

For about $70.00 Cdn, you can get a copy of your build sheet.

This one has GT cutouts and the other one you posted does not have cutouts, it is for the GTO.

In 72 the car was simply a LeMans GT and GT-37 and T-37 were dropped as names. I think the change was made part way through 71 because there is a GT model known as 71 1/2 which are supposed to be the most desireable since only 50 to 100 were produced. The GT designation carried on until 1977.

Here in Canada the most famous GT has to be the 1975 Canada Cup cars done in red and white.

I always thought the Tempest line had the T-37 and the GT=37 , So did they drop the Tempest line in 72?

Tempest name was gone in 1972 and phased out in 1971.

Thought so.. ;>)     Here are the stripe packages they used for them ...

and here is the one that Kim said they used on the 70 GT-37's .. Its the 69 Judge stripe.. Which also could of been used on the 70 GTO/Judge in the early part of 1970 ..

Here is my version of the story on stripes used on the 1971 GT-37  & 1972 Lemans GT as follows:

1971 GT-37: Eyebrow stripes similar to the 1970/71 GTO Judge stripes, but in 2 colours rather than 3. The 3-colour Judge stripes were standard on the Judge AND optional on regular GTO models. Surprisingly, the 2-colour eyebrow stripes were also available on other T-37 & Lemans non-performance oriented models.

Late 1971 GT-37: Double-edged sword reflective stripes with GT-37 cut into them.

1972 Lemans GT: The same double-edged sword reflective stripes as above but without GT-37 cut into them. In 1972 it was possible to order all Lemans series except Luxury Lemans with the Endura Styling option RPO T41 (complete GTO front clip with air extractor fenders). Any Lemans GT with T41 would have the lower pinstripe cut at the upper edge of the extractor slit. I have seen an original paint car with it (Cardinal Red with gold stripes, 350 2-barrel, dual side split exhaust & HD 3-speed with factory Hurst shifter).

There was also a multi-converging 9-pinstripe style with tapered ends available on non-GT models except the Luxury Lemans. It was a rare stripe on the 1972 GTO, but I had also personally seen an original paint 1972 Lemans Sport with T41 back in the 1970s in Georgia with that stripe from the factory (a 350 car).

There's a car running around here in Wasaga Beach with T37 markings. See it in all kinds of weather. It's far from pampered.
Will pay more attention next time I see it.
