not to highjack the thread based on your last line carl, but i'll share a brief opinion...

i can tell you that the car shows around here do not acknowledge a younger demographic much at all... drives me away from shows, i cant stand "hopping and bopping" to rockin robin!! i dont know how i lasted thru all the car shows i have!! they are too focused on the 50's ...wouldnt hurt to have more current music... the downtown cruise-in would be a better example of engaging younger people into older cars... burnout contests, bikini competitions... rat rods have created a new 'sub-culture', so have low riders (within the rod community, nevermind the tuners)... theres such a broad demographic now that really never existed... to appeal to 14-70 year olds equally isnt easy... or maybe it really isnt meant to be?... people gravitate to cars that appealed to them in their youth... it skips one generation in the sense that i gravitate to cars from my dads youth, which was the pinnacle at the time, the 70-80's slump killed it a bit, and now more youth go to what they know, cars have come around again in the late 90's to today (a rennaissance of sorts? -where a 4banger can walk circles around an SS396)

I don't think this hobby is any different from any other. I have a car just like the one I learned to drive on, I have a collection of original six hockey cards because that's what I collected as a kid and so on. My son who is 18 could care less about the original six, yea it's cool to look at Dad's old cards but outside of Hull and Howe he hasn't go a clue who these guys are or what they accomplished. I can name everyone of them. Same for the car, he thinks its cool but it means nothing to him. For him his "Muscle Cars" are these big darn trucks, he dreams of driving an Escalade or Avalanche or Hemi Ram, this is what he will collect. 

I don't expect young guys to be into muscle cars any more than I was into late 40's and early 50's cars when I was their age, they just did not interest me BUT I think it is important to make them aware of the cultural significance of these Canadian cars.

 I was walking through the Camaro nationals here in St. Catherines thinkiing the same thing, average owner's age had to be 50 !

 On the other side of that coin yesterday I sold my 64 Impala to a fine 23 year old gentleman who seems quite thrilled with the originality and the old school look of a set of Cragars-there is hope.

 P.S. thats a great looking group of Beaumonts-I see on that was mine and a couple Niagara area cars there-I may try to head over on saturday-never been believe or not.
