Jud Buchanan's 67 Acadian Canso road race machine that he runs in the annual Targa Newfoundland race every September is the subject of a big feature in the September issue of Hot Rod. It's a well built car that he's had great success with in this race. The article is worth a look - great promo for the Acadian, for Canadian hot rodders and for this unique race in Newfoundland.
Yes, I bought it last Monday on the news stand. I don't normally buy Hot Rod but I always browse, and I had to pick it up given that the article features a Canadian Pontiac outfitted for a road race in my home Province, published in a California-centric American rodding mag. I've watched that car go and it handles really well, plus it's very competitive. As you may be able to appreciate, Hot Rod has little time for imports, so the poor drivers of the Porsche that took a dip in the ocean, and the Datsun 510 that was written off in a ditch, didn't get much sympathy. But the writers loved the Acadian - they were willing to treat it as an American car despite its being built & sold in Canada.
I saw one of the races on TV a while back, and they showed itperforming...Seems to hold its own....for sure

The Acadian Canso in the Hot Rod article is back in Newfoundland now to compete in the 2008 Targa Newfoundland race. I saw it tonight at the local A&W cruise in. Very nice & well built car. Will try to get some pics if I get a chance to take in any of the race legs.
