RE: August 2008 Feature Car

Just called about it. Seems they used the same sender (WT203) for all of GM in those years. The difference could be in the dash itself.

I found out from A Body site that 1973 circuit board is one year and one year only, typical for the 73 Lemans! BUT we are using the circuit board from California with a 1976 date stamp on the cluster, since it looked to be in better shape. Soooo, you might be right about the resistance being different in that circuit board.

Yes,now that I am home I dug out the 69 to 76 Lemans parts book and they are also 1513321 sender, so that idea is out.

Ray, I saw a solid 73 LeMans Sport Coupe today in London. It was red and even had the NACA (NASA?) hood. Paint was dull but it looked like a work in progress. I was hoping to get beside the guy and tell him about the site but he got caught at a red light.

I am going to start making a registry of sightings, Counting mine that makes 5 in Ontario in the past 5 years, one was a GTO. Also saw one Grand Am in same period. Of those six, four had scooped hoods !

I was thinking of the old Mickey Thompson 73-77 Lemans Funnycar today...I think it was a '73, maybe a GrandAm?.

I think it was called something like the Reveller after the Revell Model Co. sponsorship so was probably models of it available?.

Can't seem to find anything on it available online...anyone remember or know of this this car?.

Yes, I remember the car. It was sponsored by the Marines. Stretched front end that was common at the time.

Look at this...

I think there is still an inline AC Delco metal filter. Just let me know if you want me to check if it's still available.

Thanks for the offer.I went and got an Edelbrock one with steel lines.
Someone told me that with the rubber fuel line:that you can boil your fuel?Something about sitting next to the head and being a hot day.I thought he was pulling my leg.I see alot of guys running the rubber fuel lines.

I would think that rubber is a better insulator than steel, but I'm open to learn on that one.

Having helped Ray installed it I can tell you it's a K and N inline filter. Can't seem to locate a picture of it though.

I looked up the boiling point of gas on the web and it says;anywhere between 100 F and 400 F.I wonder if any of the other guys here have heard of this?
I was going to the steel braided line for the fittings.

Todd, I will try to remember to check on it tomorrow.

I know when I put my 66 tri power setup on the 64 GTO engine I built I ordered one brand new. It looked beautiful, gold cad plated and the AC Delco logo in red with the part number on the housing.

your pics brings back memories, my brother had a 74 leMans. Nice car, it's good to hear that not all cars have to be perfect, for mine isn't and certainly won't be - simply don't have that kind of time or money. ride

Thanks speelman1958, isn't that a coincidence, I posted to you before my Grandpa had one similar to yours. I find lots of guys had these A body cars but there are very few around now.

Ray, when these cars were new to 15 years old, we NEVER thought they would be collector cars. Same goes for the Trans Ams of the 70's. Look at them now. Never say never.

I will admit I never thought of a 73-77 A body as collectible. The only one I think I ever owned was the Grand Am 455, and I bought it because it was cheap and had very impressive peeling capability! I used to think it was ugly. Shame on me.....

I guess they were like the Rodney Dangerfield of Pontiacs, "don't get no respect". Would I have a 70 GTO in my driveway...in a second but I have this car because it means something to me. If it becomes a collectible that's just a bonus. Looking back at them now they were so radically different from the previous generation in style but look at the swoops and curves on it, kinda sexy don't you think?
