Here's todays progress.. man it takes a long time to get to paint.. but at least I know this guy is in BIG demand.  He has a 70 GSX there he's doing and it's one of 18 known left to exist.. 150,000.00 plus car when done.

Anyways.. here's mine all together and ready for a splash of color.

Hey that's a great stage to be at. I may have missed it but what color are you ending up with? I think you're the guy I got an extra hood trim from off ebay a few months ago. Good to see your car and the progress so far.

The color is a factory mist blue.  there was a 66 or 67 corvette on Barret Jackson on wed or thurs that was the same color.. I really like it.

this car was on at another auction down there

I asked joe and suzie if they're stickers were the same as the ones I have, and they're exclusive to they're L79.. But.. I dont know if they had an original to go by, or if they just had them made. Either way they look great.

Its amazing the difference is the cost of stickers!!! ashamed 4 Dome Stickers made up from a photo, I supplied, cost me R30!! just over 4$C!!! biggrin By the way, my bank balance blew up within the first year! no It is now wait and then work with what cash you have!  A pensioner is not credit worthy unless he is a millionaire!hmm

Looks great Kelly. Exciting stage to be at. I think what makes this stage so nice too is that almost everything is so clean to work with after fresh paint and so on. Not all the scraping grease and rust and whatever that has to be done at the beginning. Good luck.

Wow, it sure is looking good. It's great to see you did the firewall the right way (body colour) too!

Those nifty little details make our unique Canadian cars stand out...

I agree 100%.  I won't actually mind lying on my back as I work under the dash..  Unfortunatly I have to pull the Diff.  to re-set the lash/pinion depth.  hopefully that is the only really dirty job left..

Thanks for the comments

here's the email that my bodyman just sent me about the color.

"The paint is PPG basecoat # DBC12843 . That,s all the info i have. I took a piece of your original colour for a sample into town for matching and this is what we came up with"

Wow, you must be a happy camper right about now!

Looks great. Too bad about the work schedule. I hate it when life interferes with hobbies!

Just found this thread and its so nice to see a rare and unique car done to this level. The hours of labour and working around family / work commitments makes it so much sweeter when its done. I remember carrying my subframe to the backyard to sandblast it, and cleaning and painting all the small parts in the end its worth it.

That is a great colour choice. Now comes the fun part of putting everything together without harming that beautiful paint job.

I was cleaning up threads on a bolt on my bench grinder with the wire wheel. When it grabbed the bolt and shot it over the car and on to my hood crycry

I'm paranoid already for sure.. I'm about to pull the back 1/4 window out to weld up the pot metal window frame (cracked and flexes when you roll up the window).. I've got blankets on every bench and I'm pretty much wearing pajamas so as not to scratch with buttons.. LOL
