OK! whats wrong with Ventura's? Change the front fenders, and hood, and its a Nova? One member called it/them a piece of junk? and just for fun, did you know, they made a limited run of them in 1972, in California and called them.... wait for it Ventura SD !!!!!!!
There is nothing wrong with them Carl. I hope he was kidding.
Please don't talk about making them into Nova's! They have their place too. I have one as a matter of fact. The place for a Nova just happens to not be here.

There used to be a yellow Ventura sport here in Welland when I was 10-12 years old-I still remeber the chrome slotted mags (1970's ) The car looked great ! Its one of the first cars that probably inspired my interest in car. I had a 71 Ventura 6 cylinder auto with bucket seats, copperhead metallic-wish I had it now !
Thanks its amazing, that I would actually convert it, to please my peers.. Guess the little boy wanting approval, never left lol If I put 307 emblems on it, wouuld anyone know it was a "bad boy" corvette motor?
Had a 72 Ventura "Sprint" It was American I believe, with the Blue block, A real dog, light to light, but would bury the 140 MPH speedo on the Highway. And it was a Hatchback. Silver with a Black stripe down the side with "sprint" written on it. Gave a kid a case of Canadian for it, and then sold it to a guy in a band ($600). Met him a few months later and he said they'd driven that car to gigs all over Western Canada. Don't know what ever happened too it.

my book just shows ventura II and sprint total production 72,787 for 71 and 72 no sd. 73 added the custom series.74 added of coarse the greatest gto ever to the options.75 had options S base model, ventura next step up , custom, and of coarse the greatest ventura ever the sj like mine.
Hard to read the pages of the article but it looks like it was a 10 second 0-60 machine which was better than the Mercedes of the day they compare it to.
i found some info on ab SD.500 units predicted , but does not show any were made. also motor trends did an artical on the up coming 75 gto 2 were made and giving for tests by the mags. i have gm service mauels showing how to work on a 455 ventura didnt happen. many dealerships continued to produce their own varients of cars "royal bobcat".i am not saying there are not any just the gm has some odd ball things out there like the 1968 ragtop z28 1 of none car built for an upper management guy. my ventura has options on it gm did not offer venturas just concourse novas probably dealer added. i have codes for the sprint option 332 ,but none for the sd. i still have more books to go thru and will post any info i find.http://www.pontiacventura.com/ventura_images/1975ventura_pics/75vGTO-m.jpghttp://www.pontiacventura.com/ventura_images/1975ventura_pics/75gtoHPP-aug2005.jpg i gave these pics to roland they are from 1 of my h.p. pontiac mags.
