Is this all across Canada ? How can that be, I looked at the price of the barrel last night and it was lower than a month ago ie. 103$ instead of 145$ shouldn't the price of gas go down to about $1.10 a liter ? ^*%&$^
It is going to be for Norh America, the Hurricanes are finally affecting production in the Gulf and the spot price of Gasoline rose 30% today as Ike rages in the Gulf. Supply and demand issue. Shut down the oil rigs and no more gasoline. The spot price is actually higher than when Katrina hit and I recall paying $1.50 a litre then.

Read it and weep, all across the great land of the beaver:
Thanks Hillar, heading over to Star now with the entire fleet, the whole family is driving one each.

So how did it go Ray? When I was over there about 7:15 tempers were already starting to get short. Amazing how uncivilized people can become so quickly. Just goes to show you the glue that holds our society together is pretty thin.....

Same here in Ingersoll. The local station had 134.5 on the big sign, but the pumps were still at 119.9. I filled up our fleet including the Laurentian. The owner said if the next hurricane does damage to the refinery in Texas it's "gonna be bad"...
When I was in business selling tires, we could never adjust the price, according to when they were made, with all the oil products in them.. DO YOU THINK we are getting screwed?
this is going to hurt because everything i have is nearing empty and i was figuring to do the fill ups tomorrow. i saw all the line ups today, even the more expensive stations had the line up this evening

Well Ryan and I pulled right onto the property, me in the Cadillac and Jr. piloting the Suburban. They only have one 91 octane pump so I was lucky that the proprietor was there directing cars. I told him the Cadillac needed 91 and he stopped cars from going there and put me right in. I squeezed 50 litres in at $1.27. Ryan had to wait for two cars to gas up.
Mary had let the GMC get down to a quarter left so it took 120 litres. The guy behind Ryan grew impatient and started honking and freaking out. It seems like it takes about 15 minutes to put 120 litres in since they have the really old style pump. The proprietor went over to him and told him to stop or he refuses to sell him gasoline. Needless to say he freaked but then calmed down.
So in the end it went smoothly however I can see how things could get out of hand easily had the proprietor not had the good sense to be on duty.
Gas is already to high here at $1.35, I hope it doesn't go up here tomorrow ! Excuses on the news were Hurricane, our dollar value (guess I'll have to sell stuff on ebaymotors !) and a third reason that I forgot already 'cause I'm pissed.
Someone here said it was going to go up by 19cents a litre in Calgary...I hope not. Fueled up this morning at $1.28 litre

The last time the price dropped here, it dropped back to $1.40/litre for 87octane. It's $1.41 now, but it's been much higher. My daily driver requires 91 octane at $1.50+/litre. This is supply and demand at work. Until that shift from big trucks/SUVs to smaller more fuel efficient cars takes greater hold and forces gasoline demand down, it's going to be this way. Lots of volatility as well due to supply disruptions like weather in the Gulf of Mexico. I went from a Hemi Dodge Magnum wagon to a 6 cyl sedan mostly because of the rising cost of fuel.
Now I know for sure I'm past fourty-ran with this alert $50 in my wife's car full, $55 in the Park Ave 1/2 full (just in case it sells), $110 in the green roadmaster. Sold the chevelle today with 3/4 tank-should have got more money for it !

We are absolutely getting screwed. The oil companies are jacking up prices in anticipation of damage to the oil rigs and/or the refineries; none has actually occurred yet. I saw Dan McTeague interviewed tonight and he thinks the oil companies are planning to jack the prices even more, basically to whatever level "they think they can get away with".
Speaking of tires, has anyone checked the prices of new winter tires yet? (yes, shame on me for even mentioning the "w" word). Be prepared for some major sticker shock, I'm sure the tire manufacturers will put all the blame on petroleum based inputs.

Oh man, you have exactly the color Roadmaster I always wanted. Our's is blue and I love the green....
Funny how much your driveway looks like ours---- 2 Impalas and a Roadmaster sedan!

My 91 octane 32 valve dual over head cam Northstar 300 HP V8 Cadillac is paid for. I can't see how it makes any economic sense for me to go out and get say a Honda Accord and incur a $400 per month car payment for the next 4 years for the sake of saving $10 or $15 per week. My daily commute is 6 minutes and it gets 28 mpg on the highway when we go on trips or head to the cottage. The Suburban gets 1,100 km on a tank full with my wife on the throttle. Sure it hurts to pump $200 into at a time but 1,100 kms, that's a long way man.
It's the guys with the 100+ km daily commute who are pooping their pants, but I can't say I really feel sorry for them. No one should live that far from work, either get another job or move closer.

I drive approx 60-70 kms a day to work and back. My 60 wagon was a little too hard on gas. I bought the 60 Biscayne with the 6 and 3speed standard, driving it daily and it seems good on fuel(haven't calculated yet) but then, anything would be better than the big ole Safari..
