1970 Hood Tach

Im looking for a hood tach to fit on a 1970 Lemans hood. I believe they used the same tach from 68-72 but not to sure of that. The hood already has the cut out from the original tach that was sold. Any and all suggestions would be great.

Looks like 70-71 tachs were unique. Year One sells them.
$329

Yes buying new is the best idea, any that survived these years in salvage yards would be weathered and prone to mis-readings.

Don't know if this is true or not but I once read that Oshawa built Judges did not get the standard Tach like US cars, GM Canada engineering citing negative cold weather testing results as the reason. The tach did remain optional however. weirdface

I read that somewhere also that Oshawa didnt come with them but the hood I bought is cut for it so Id rather put one in then repair the hood plus I think it looks much better then the aftermarket in the car. I also agree about the the original ones as of the few I have seen some say not sure if it works and will be purchased as is. Is there any concerns with the after market ones?

Thanks

Year One is pretty reputable. I think you would be safe buying one from them.

Thats why its good to have friends in the USA then I pick it up when I am there. I heard that if you ship regular post they dont get you with taxes for the border. I did order a lamp for my TV from California and I didnt get hit with any other charges outside of what I agreed to for courier from the shipper. But Im sure there is a downside to it also.

Least Performance years uses USPS, unlike Year One with UPS that will take the shirt off your back with borker fees

Mail is fine for something like a tach. As stated, sometimes no fee, sometimes I have paid a $5 fee for Canada Post to clear it. Either way, it's the only way to ship into Canada.

I checked Ames and Performance Years, they have the tach for about $100 less, $215 and $239. $100 pays for a lot of postage!

If you do order thru PY, go to the tech line first and see if you need a harness or not. I think they sell the tac ones for $15.00.
