I "was" on freedom 55ish until this new cabin came along this summer. Think I joined the freedom 75 club at that point.

Countdown is on until I'm a counterman and not a GM parts manager any more though. T minus 4 days to go.....

Wow Carl. Why the switch? I have to admit life is easier since I went from Service Manager to Service Advisor. I'm no longer bringing the job home with me.

When my counter man started (it will be 5 years on Monday for him) he asked about chance of climbing the ladder and I told him that at 50 I wanted to unwind a bit. I will be 51 in a couple of weeks. We told him he could have my title, and I wanted to work less hours. However, I'm not so sure that with this new cabin purchase this summer that less hours will work ($$$$$!!!!) but we'll see next year.

I have to say, I'm a bit nervous. I feel way too young to think retirement.

I'm not retiring, maybe not working the 48hrs plus, that i had in the military including all the grief. my full intentions are a part time job with no stress. its hard to believe the stress i had working part time at Canadian Tire dealing with disgruntled customers. i'm not the one who doesn't order enough stock. i'm not the one who hides the stock in the warehouse so you can't find it. I'm not a license plumber or electrician, they make $45/hr plus. i can tell you where it is, not how to do it. also don't ask me to pick a colour for you. i'm the guy thats works part time stocking shelves and helping customers that need help plus i drives a honda thats 17 different colours (rant over)

I must be weird. I actually enjoy working with customers. My favorite part of the job is the phones and the counter.
