A great man and a great actor. Who can forget the movies "he made". Cool Hand Luke, The Sting, The Hustler, Butch Cassidy, Slapshot. Okay, Slapshot may be a reach. All classics.

Not sure how good a racer he was but he did have a long history of involvement. I read on another form that they had shutdown Lime Rock last month so he could have one last run in his GT-1 Corvette.

Another growing up Mosport story...

About 1980, a couple of my chums and I met up w/ Newman's Can-Am team crew at Mosport while they were setting up and practising mid week before the race..
Being weeknights stuck out at the track are pretty boring, we invited them to a BBQ and challenged them to a baseball game at our park down the road in Tyrone and surprisingly they accepted!.
We gave them a few of our girl players to even things up and forget now who even won the game but remember the great time also talking cars and life while hanging out having a few drinks w/ these guys after the BBQ..
I hooked up w/ them again at the track a day or two later, got to sit in the Lola Can-Am car also meet driver EFR and Paul when they arrived...Newman was a VERY cool guy and I'll always remember him from this much more than his being an actor!.

RIP Paul Newman car guy!.
