On Ebay 1966 Acadian Canso SD L79, owner says 1 of 4 (I remember a # like 43???) missing hood script, wind split, the maple leaf on the 4 speed console and the Acadian on the trunk is on the left should be on the right and the signal lenses should be clear . Black and red, looks good, $55,000 U.S. buy it now!

Wow, love the colour combo!

I am not sure what you mean by the trunk emblem and the maple leaf. I don't see a maple leaf, and do you mean the Sport Deluxe on the trunk? It is on the right. Should it be on the left? I thought it looks correct?

Thanks for pointing out these restoration gliches, it is great learning about the cars all the time, and lets face it we have a number of experts on board. It is interesting that once you point out that the Acadian tail script is on the wrong side how odd that really looks. Despite these flaws I give it a big thumbs up thumbsup.gif.

Carl the insert in the trunk (there are 2 one with ribs and one with Acadian on a 66) that has Acadian on it should be on the right side, if you look in the glovebox manual it will show a pic of the rear of an Acadian and this is where the insert is . It is on the right side on my 66 Canso SD and was there before removal for restoration. The maple leaf I am referring to is on the front of the console where the SS badge would be if it was a Nova, about the size of a .50 cent piece.

I have never seen the maple leaf on an Acadian console. Do you have a picture of one?

I don't have a pic but my friend Joe in Michigan has a couple of them, small circle ,size same as ss, chrome around the edge, black background and red maple leaf in centre. Even rarer than the hood scripts. I will try to get him to post a pic.

Thanks, now I am real curious! I've never seen or heard of them. I'm quite sure that they were not on 65's.

Have you seen my posts on here as well as Steve's Nova Site regarding Acadian consoles? There's variations in the mounting holes for the floor brackets as well as dimple/non dimple variations where the SS emblem would go on Novas. I have yet to nail down what came with what.

I believe that is the car that has been listed on Ebay a few times in the last couple months for $49,995. It was in Colorado. A member here, BeaumontBill, is currently restoring a 66 L-79 Acadian.

LOL, sorry Carl, I wasn't trying to imply you are wrong! Maybe the emblem is the same except for the maple leaf, I don't know not having seen one.

Hi Chris, great to meet you at the Hamilton show. Hope you didn't get to wet going home I did.  Your Acadian is gorgeous, you should be proud.

Todd, the car was super solid. It had sat in Vancouver Island for years. I had to replace the quarters because the original owner hack sawed the wheel well openings . I was lucky enough to find n.o.s 1/4 s so that worked out. All the
hard to find emblems and trim pieces were with the car so that just takes the time and money to restore them.  There were some expensive engine parts missing like the carb and distributor put those are handled as well. The interior and door panels were solid but i had SMS make me new material for the seats
and make me new door panels from the originals. For the most part all the parts are handled except finding a rear set of fawn seatbelts. Anyone that can help with that please contact me.  Very happy with the work the restoration
shop CPR Musclecar in Monaca PA  is doing . Car should be done this Spring
can't wait.

Bill are the seat belt buckles the brushed finish or are they the plastic color ones (probably the brushed finish)? Let me know and I will watch for a pair. My car had fawn ones originally, traded them for the present black ones.
