RE: Can anyone DeCode this??

It's ok Ray, he already wears glasses!

He's been poking fun at my creaky old bones on a different thread here! He seems to need to prove to us how young and spry he is...

Just wait till the next wrecking yard adventure we take. I'll show him who the old guy is!

Yes it is, a radio delete, with manual steering and brakes, but a power tailgate window.
I didn't get a hold of him today to see if he got keys cut, I'll try him again tomorro.
And here the emblem on the front fender...

You'll have to change your user ID to 68 wagon....

I would not delay this deal too long. Seeing what is available out there for that price makes me think it's a good buy.

Brings a tear to my eye cause it reminds me of my 67 Grande Parisienne 396 wagon.

Way Kewl! Someone with a very limited budget ordered that car but they had their priorities straight.  Get the biggest motor you could afford, the rear window for convenience, and forget about everything else.  Did you look underneath to see whether it has a 12 bolt - and maybe a posi?wink

The 1-5-16 means first shift, month 5 (May) and day (16). We know it's a 68 so the year is a given.

Anyone know how many shifts were there back then?confused  My VIN search sheet from GM says the production date was April 1, 65 but the car's tag says 2-3-31.  Just wondering if it took 2 shifts to build it?weirdfaceconfused

I wonder if the second shift runs past midnight and that is how they determine the date? Tag stamped on March 31, car finished April 1?

Or maybe it's an April fool's joke!

The pics aren't good, but thats the frame, right behind the trans x-member...The rest of the frame looks good, but I don't like the look of this.

That is a typical spot for these frames to be bad. I know of several people around here (Ontario) looking for 2 door frames.
It's too bad, the car looked really good from the initial pics.

It is in real good shape. But I can't justify $1500, for a car with a rusty frame, no matter how nice it looks. I almost didn't check under the car because the rest was so rust free, And I went there with the cash in my pocket...

Well-your a smart guy take advantage of the "frame rot" not many people will buy it that way-tell him your sorry can't pay $1500 because of the frame but would pay $500 for parts-theres no way you can't make money at that ! He'll eventually call you because anyone he tells that the frame has rot won't even come to see it. The car is not junk it just has more issues than you originally thought-don't let it go to the crusher.

I don't really think he'll let it go to the crusher, he seems emotionally attatched to it. But, he still thinks the motor is worth $1000., I told him its nothing special, other than its a 327, and it has low mileage, but someone told him "it was a corvette motor" because they seen a corvette at one time with the same motor in it.

Would a 68 wagon fit on a 67 rag frame?
If so I can helpnod.gif

It should, the overhang at the rear from the body mounts back would be longer but that could likely be saved from the wagon-big project to pull it apart like that, have to buy it cheap. Too bad its not in Ontario-it would look good in the driveway even if I just used it to store parts in !

It would be nice to have, but I have my 60 wagon as an ongoing project and didn't want another "project" car.

Come on sixtywagon!!!! A man with only one project on the go is a man with too much time on his hands!!!! (lol) I have about a dozen on the burners here......!!!!!! Odd to have a frame that rotten, especially out west here. I have seen many a roted frame, but the body showed the same rot as well. Was it kept inside in a garage most of it's life after use on the road? If so, my '67 Grande wagon was the same way and if fell apart from the bottom up. That's why am converting a '68 Laurentian wagon into the '67 Grande.
As for frames, a '67 and '68 Chev or pontiac should fit. A buddy of mine in Goose-Bay Labrador put a '67 wagon frame under his 2-dr and just cut the rear overhang. My Convert came from Colberg Ont and you Ontario guys will know what the frame will look like as well as my home province of Newfoundland!!!!! In '87 I put a rust free 4-dr Strato frame I got from Goose-Bay Labrador under my Rag as well as the rest of the bottom of the car!!!! And in '97 for my '67 Coupe, I put a Goose-Bay '70 4-dr Parisienne frame under as well. Just had to section in the rear of the frame where the rear bumper bolted on.
Depending on the rest of the undercarriage, it does look like a solid car!!
SD 396, if you are talking B-bodies, I know first hand that 4-dr frames will work under a 2-dr or Rag as I was told outright that they would not. Plus I took the complete bottom rocker to rocker from that '67 Strato 4-dr and spliced it into the Convert in '87.

Lots of experience there.
I just don't have the room to store another vehicle, I'm living in a basement suite right now til I can get my Own place(hopefully with a garage)
I'm not sure if it was in a garage or not, its been sitting in a driveway between two houses for the past three years(uncovered). Aside from the frame issue, it needs the brakes bled(easy) and the trans was out of fluid , the only other thing wrong was the drivers door wouldn't open, he said he used to slide something between the window to open it from inside.

Who would of ever thought talking about putting a wagon on a 2d frame glad to see more people thinking my way. In the past it would of been pull out the motor and trans and send the rest to the shredder
