The whole Southern Africa Region is RHD. All their vehicles come from South Africa. Some of our plants like Volkswagen and BMW manufacture RHD models for the rest of the RHD world market.

The RHD Chevelle had a fibreglass dash. I suspect the Beaumont, Acadian and Canso/Chevy II also.  Here are some photos of the restoration!

GM actually exported Beaumonts to South Africa all right hand drives, Acadians as well. Have never seen one, however I did see a dealers shop manual 1 time at swap meet. It show the dash layout of rhd impalas too. It wasnt a regular manual, it had all the rhd cars from GM in it. Yes Ive kicked myself for not paying the ransom the guy was asking, only refrence to rhd GMs ive saw

65 beau,  I posted these pics of 2 67 South Africa beumonts.  Both RHD with the 64 chevelle fiberglass dash.

neat, there sure couldnt have been very many RHDs, in total of all of the GM s. Beaus are rare here never mind over there.

Johann65,  noticed your car has power windows too.  Was this common in SA?  The road test car from the magazine also has them.  Is your car same one from the magazine in 1965?
The one in the mag is a light color, and yours is red, that is why i am asking.

PW in a sedan is pretty rare in in the USA let alone canada!

why wouldnt the air breather off of a normal 6cyl car fir on the RHD car ?. looks exactly like the one on my 6cyl. Only the steering suspinsion and dash should be different , rest should be the same..... no?

Power windows at that time was very rare. The Malibu as used in the August 65 road test is to my knowledge no longer in existence.  My Malibu will be getting the white painted top to bring it to the original build specs. With exception of the floorshift that I have fitted all the metal and aluminium trim parts are original as well as the door panels.  The seats, carpet and rooflining have been replaced due to rats and geese nesting in it!  The 66 Parisienne 4dr hardtop standing in a garage near me also has powerwindows.  Dying to restore that car!!!

Yes, You are right! as well as the pedals, handbrake ,stearing column and part of the wiring harness!

Take note of the picture. It has been touched up!  The right hand drivers mirror has been partially obliterated!  The car looks too good to be true! We have a saying in South Africa: "Bo blink onder stink!"  Translated means "Shiny on top and smelly underneath"

I think one of your 67 Beaumonts just popped up in Capetown, minus engine and gearbox!  Chap by the name of Michael Cumings is busy restoring it.  I refered him to this website for advice.

To Restore to stock condition takes a lot of patiencewink One of the items hard to find is a stock car Radio!  Friend of mine went to the Freestate to do some carpentry and brought this back to me!!!biggrin Was in a cabinet in a workshop!  Still in good working order!  Then the four stages of installing a floorshift!  Lot of school-fees!  Hope it is now complete! First Australian 1976 Holden Caprice Shifter then a 1978 Chev Commodore shifter and part of the rear console and the forward section from a Mazda 323. Joined and finished off with filler and spot putty!
