I can't help you as far as rear speakers go, but I put two good 4" speakers where the centre mono speaker was in my Laurentian:

I didn't want my stereo in the glove box so I modified a GM tissue dispenser to hide my deck:

I have Pioneer 6x9 rear speakers hidden under factory speaker grilles. Not sure where you can put your rear speakers-perhaps in the rear 1/4 trim?

Hi Loud, the set up i used to have in my car (given its a hardtop) was all hidden. 2-3.5" for fill in the center of the dash, mid's in the front vents (this is where you would want to go with full range), tweeters in the spot where my vent pull knobs were (these were all wrapped in black speaker cloth and blended into the car), stereo system was in the glove box, my rear tray was one peice of black stereo cloth to hide 2 mid-bass and a 10" sub. my trunk is boxed and carpeted so you couldnt see anything with the trunk open either. I'd have to see what space a convertible has, but hiding a sub or 2 behind the rear seat should be do-able, and bass is non directional, with a good set of speakers up front it'll probably give you enough sound to go cruise without cutting up any of your car...

I guess I am "too old" to understand the new sound systems..   My little Pontiac, has a basic am/fm/cd player and 4 speakers, and it is more than enough, for me... I can't run it full volumne!.Dont know, what I would do with a woofer (dog) tweeter (bird) bass(fish) subs (Subway)..bleh   I cant imagine, why anyone, would install the "stuff', and those stupid cheap boxes, they make  on Unique Whips, and wreck  the usable space in the vehicle..  If the sound system is "loud" at 1 out of 10, where do you run it at 7,8,9,10?   Forgive me expressing my opinion.. I came from a period of time, when a single rear speaker was a "big deal"  And I already said I was old  lol

i know what you mean but am is not doing it for ive been using a dewalt radio and my ipod for music till i figure out what i would like to install i saw a stereo system with a remote and the remote is round im going to see if it would fit in the console then i can hide the stereo under the seat as for the location of the speakers ill just have to figure that out i think the two under the dash and two 6x9 saddjed over the tranny tunnel will be fine but was there not an option for speaker for the rear for a conv i thougth i saw something like that dont know getting old lol

Carl you come from a time when computers didnt exist but you've adapted... useable space in vehicles? i dont take my beaumont to home depot to pick up 2x4s so i dont have a lot of need for useable space!hahaha! I havent had a stereo in my car in probably 7 years, i like the sound of the car and i dont drive it too often... I agree with you carl, i'm not into loud systems at all, a nice sounding system is a treat though, and you need the right components to do that... think of it like an engine in a car, you can make a crappy motor loud, but it doesnt make power, make real power however and the loud comes with it!hahaha!

Loud when i'm back home i can send you a pic of the enclosures i made for the kick panels, the install didnt require any mods and was quite invisible, but i did miss having the air from the kickpanels though...

Actually, I come from the days, of AM radio  I like the sound system ,that came in my Ventura II.. dash unit, and 4 speakers.  I dont understand the big JLC this, and that, that Will Castro, sticks in all the SUV'S he works on.  Those big woolfers, and such are like sticking a cardboard tube down your pants, to show you have the "goods"   I guess I will never understand, why the cars, have to have the ability to sound loud several miles awaydisbelief    Nothing any worse than a 2500.00 car with a 4000.00 sound system!!   I know I won't win this conversation  lol

You can put the front speakers in brand new molded kick panels sold on ebay and the rear in the convertible top bucket trims. You just need to get your head wrapped around cutting the original parts. They do sell brand new ones if you don't want to cut the originals. The sub can go in the trunk because it doesn't matter. Mounting it to the back of the seat at a angle works better. I just put my stereo in a pod under the dash above the front of the console with quick disconnects, because I use one stereo for many cars. It can also be removed for car shows. Tweaters can be pre-wired under the chrome window gasket trim and mounted with double sided tape to the pillar. All amps are on covered plywood for quick disconnects in the trunk so they can be used in multiple cars.
