I was in contact with the guy on this one but the firewall cowl tag was rivited on and the car is really rusted out. Take note of the rockers and quarters. He wanted $1500 this summer for it but other than the interior and a few odds and sods, it wasn't worth it to me. Also the console is butchered up pretty bad as well. The previous owner had a Pontiac mill in it as well. All of this I was told.

Ooops, lots of flags go up with that cowl tag picture, yup!

Did he give you the VIN? I'm sure with the number of 67's on here we could prove or disprove it.

Sorry, I should have elaborated. Now we need the 67 guys to tell us the last digits of there VIN vs the build date on the cowl tag. The 4 speed cowl tag has a build date of 10 11 which I assume is Oct 11th. There must be 67 guys here with cars built around that VIN or that date and we can see if they jive. Make sense?

Aslong as the plastic is not cracked/broken you can get new inserts for the console. I need/want the rear sway bar, column, disc brakes etc. HHMM.

Sure please post the 5 VIN's with corresponding tags for each VIN. I am guessing that will do it unless they are all from a distant date.

I'm looking for the original correct bar, the ones that you can get from the dealers still don't have the original correct bend to them under the diff.

The original ones have a nice gradual bend to them under the diff, where as the GM replacement bars have a sharper bend to them under the diff. If you compare the 2 in pics, you will see what I mean. I don't have a pic of a original one of hand.    Actually the bar on that 2+2 might be a replacement bar, hard to tell in that pic.

I suppose if someone was really, really interested they could have GM Historical get the build sheet for the car.

I guess the one on that 2+2 is a later replacement. You can see there is a big difference. If you find one out there grab it, and sell it to me wink.

Andrew

Do you think there is any chance they put a different one on A body even though the book says it's the same as B body?

Here is a shot of one that I pulled off in a yard years ago. I just can't recall if this was the 70 Skylark or the 67 442 bar, but both were likely a good 20 years ago and the cars looked to be fixtures in the yard. I am thinking it is an original bar. It's sure not like your's.

Just for fun I went into the A and B body parts books just now to see if they have ever had a different part number between the 2 bars. It appears that bar has had the same part number from it's inception on A or B cars. So much for the theory I had that maybe one had changed up to the other number somewhere along the way.

Andrew, you have quite the mystery there with your observation. Not sure how to answer it. I had a 68 Impala Custom 427 F41 car years ago but I have no pictures of if and sure can't remember how it looked.

Carl what ever happened to the 68 Impala, you didn't part it out did ya??? LOL. I'm not sure what to say about your bar Carl, It sure looks like a later replacement. All 67 chev(pontiac??) F41 cars left the factory as far as I know with the bar like the one on my car. I believe afew years later the replacement bars came out with the sharper bend in them??? I have seen the ones that you can still get from GM on ebay for relatively cheap, and the original one's I have seen sell for $400 or so US. I waiting for my other original rear bar to show up with all the original hardware. I do know that 67(65,66,68,69) F41 fullsize chevs and 66-67 F41 chevelles used the same 15/16ths front sway bar bushings.

You just did say it.smile But really 99% of the people at shows that would look under the car at a show would probably not notice. In the end I guess its all about how it would work. For me personally I want my cars to look like they did when they came off the show room floor, It really hurts the pocket thoughhmm.
