Looks like someone cared about it since it gets the carport.

Is that a 63' the mechanic is standing at?

I think there's a 58 at the pumps. That one?

No the Gold car in the left Supertest bay. Or is it a Mercury?

I think you're right.

The Grande Parisienne is probably a 427/425 4 speed in for a new clutch!

Yea, and it has to sit untill the kid saves up enough money from his paper route to cover it right?

and what was special about them?

Hillar, as I recall they could be driven while standing, Silverwood's Dairy used them to delivery milk on my street.

Ding, ding, ding!  Ray wins the prize!  nod.gif

Yes, they had a swing away seat and a special set of pedals/hand throttle control that allowed the truck to be driven standing up.  This was much more convenient considering the constant start/stop and the driver having to hop in and out every few feet.

Silverwood's did my street too, they seemed to have a lock on the east end.  I would have thought Donlands Dairy would have done good business in this area.

Borden's was the other big dairy with milk trucks that I remember.  They all used Divcos.

Only two newspaper boxes back then - the Star and the Telegram!
I love the red and cream livery on the TTC vehicles, I wish they had kept that.

Love the pictures. Especially since I grew up all around these. There's been a few right around where I lived and worked.

Bathurst Station hasn't changed at all. If you take the cars out you can swear the pic was taken last week.

Even cooler is the one of the film crew working. This is my day when I'm on set.

Yes, they are amazing arn't they!
I enjoyed looking at them again, I never get tired of looking at old shots involving cars.

Most are from the City of Toronto Archives.

Cheers, Mark

for me since i wasent alive then i really find it a shame that if you took a picture of the same buildings or streets you probally wouldent even look at the cars now, there mostly so nondescriped, not like then when you could see the front end and know exactly what year, make, and model it was. And like some of you guys what engine and if it has disc brakes!! lol
