Thanks,  Norm

Can someone more familiar with 63's tell from the pics if the SD emblems are in place? or what should a 63 have?

thanks,
andrew

The 63 SD has Sport Deluxe on the quarter panel in addition to Beaumont.  It is not possible to see these emblems from the pictures.
The SD also has an extra panel on the trunk lid above the ACADIAN center panel the extra panel says Sport Deluxe.  That panel is visable in the pictures.
The center side moulding on the SD model stops on the door.  The Beaumont non-SD side moulding continues on to the rear of the quarter panel.  The correct SD moulding is visable in the pictures.
The picture of the interior shows the correct bucket seats with console and floor shifter.  These are part of the SD package.

I was wondering when the side chrome continued or not... i was surfing for some pics last night and saw the difference... i have an email into him as well, no reply yet...

thanks Norm, also i'll let you know what i find out, I have a cousin in the area that knows cars, he restored a 56 convert, and is now building a rod, he'll look at it for me...

edit:Norm, do you know would all sd cars have been a 6cyl in 63? Also is their a VIN specific to SD cars from those years? I dont think there is just convertible, 6 or 4cyl...

andrew

Andrew, I enjoy sharing information on this site but don't you find it a little weird that I'm helping you confirm the value of this car that you say you want to buy.  I sent the seller an email two days ago stating I would buy the car site unseen at his asking price.
I want to buy this car and I'm helping you validate the car so you can send your cousin in to hopefully seal the deal for you.
In answer to your question, all Acadian's in 1963 were built with either the 194 6 cyl or 153 4 cyl.  There is no specific vin for an SD car in 1963, the cowl tag should show Z03 for the SD option.
Good Luck, but I hope you don't buy the car unless you want to sell it to me,   Norm

Doubtful yes but it'd sure be interesting if any of the Acadians were one or more of the 3 MIA units produced w/ the V8's for '63!.

Pretty cool isn't it!?

Even though it's a Chevy document, being it's accumlative production by engine displacement, in the Chevy 2 series of cars it may not necessarily include only Chevrolets?.
And I've never tried it but perhaps jiving known vehicle production totals would help clarify if Canadian produced cars are included?.

Neat for a reference to all model lines especially using the 10 Percent rule of thumb for Canadian cars but back on the Chevy 2 subject and noting the exceptions at the bottom...(1) indicates US Production only and the reference of the 3 V8 units has no (1) so could be Canada/US Production?.
The (2) it does have indicates the low percentage also that this is the only reference to the production of 1963 V8's in Chevy 2 series cars..

I am a doubter as to a car like that made for public sale, but it sure would be possible that they made some show cars, race cars, whatever.

On the flip side, as I get older I find I "never" use the word "never" when it comes to what was made etc.....!

Hi Norm, actually i never said i wanted to buy it, you make alot of assumptions... but was willing to share info with you on the car if i get more, or if my cousin goes to see it (you were the one who asked if someone could look at the car for you?). Nonetheless I'm interested in buying a driver convertible, but i'm not too hung up on a 63, i would really like a 67. I have a job that pays me, so i dont flip cars, and have always been willing to step aside on cars I find to let someone else who really wants that car buy it, if i buy it, its because i want it, otherwise i won't buy it. I dont think anything I've asked you actually relates to confirming value of the car, imo? I was just wondering if someone knew more about if this car had all the equipment it should have. Value of a car is tied to rarity-a little, but more so condition and desirability. If I was really concerned about the price/value I would have openly asked what the car is worth (wiw)? WIW, is forum on Team Chevelle for precisely that type of info.

Hopefully the guy gets back to you, and since you are buying sight unseen, you wont need anyone to look at it for you. I hope you get it, you're obviously very interested in this car.

Andrew

No,  I never did hear anything on the car.  In fact, I gave up on convertibles last year and sold the 62 I had for about 10 yrs.  I really shouldn't have more than one car anymore.  We now go to Florida every winter and that means I only have 8 months out of the year to work on a car.  Then between car events and the kids and grandkids living 3-6 hours away, I can't find the time to work on a project steady.
I did buy a 63 Nova SS from California just because it came with all the original trim and SS parts.  Not to mention it is one of the most solid cars I have ever owned.  At the same time I came across a complete 64 Nova SS drivetrain, from rad to posi rearend.  So when I get a little time and money, I have been picking up some items I will need and going through my inventory to see what I have in stock that I can use in putting this car back together with new paint and the V-8 drivetrain.  The 64 parts include a muncie 4 spd, correct shifter, pedals, bellhousing and necessary parts to convert to a 64 4bbl.
It is a beautiful project and I will be going with the original white with red interior.  Unfortunatly, as mentioned, it may be 3-4 years before it is on the road.
Thank you for the offer, right now I can't see me buying another car unless it was just too good to turn down, and that happens.
