Is that where my mattress went?  wink    cool story!     I had a lady, call me years ago, and said family truck was vibrating, "going down her driveway" I told her to carefully bring it to our shop  (7miles)  As she turned into our shop driveway, the drive shaft fell out....wonder how long it had been vibrating, before she called?

We have an 09 Camry that the body shop sent over to us to "check for suspension damage". The car has damage to the drivers fender, bumper cover, headlight and a small dent on the drivers door. When we got it up in the air here's what we found:

both control arms broken
both spindles broken
brake calipers damaged
both rims damaged
oil pan damaged
passenger rotor broken around the hub!
sway bar links damaged
both hubs damaged
both tires damaged
We suspect both struts are bent as well as the rack is damaged

This car must have nailed a curb moving at a good clip. Over 8 grand in parts and 23+ hours of labour and it will be ready for the bodywork!

Somehow I'm thinking you could hit a cement wall let alone a curb with the old Pontiac and not cause that much damage !

Them uni bodies are just great aren't they ? High Strength steel with crush zones built in to protect the passenger they say-far superior to the traditional body over frame design

We had an 08 Impala SS 5.3 in last week that we sold. Hit a curb, not too hard. Scuffed two 18" alum rims, bent subframe. Insurance claim will be over 4 grand...

I ploughed my 86 SS into a curb on a 90 degree corner one snowy night, never even hit the brakes, it just ploughed, hard wack. To the shop in the morning, no damage found, not even an alignment needed.

Indeed. I was almost in tears when I wacked it, but that thing was terrible in the snow. The best I ever had it hook up was with two blue boxes full of red bricks in the trunk, 235/75/15 snows on the rear and all season 235/75/15 on the front all mounted on Pontiac Rally II wheels. I had purchased Eagle Ice and Snows 215/65/15 and mounted them on 78 Z/28 Turbine wheels and they were terrible, the Eagle VR255/50/15's I ran were like snow shoes so it was always a battle with that car.

Those frames are not exactly strong on those cars either. Not bad, but the B body of that era up till the end of production certainly has a beefier frame.

I still like those G body SS's, Regals etc. Nice cars.

Had an 80 Grand Prix W37 option too, I like it, 301 4bbl.

When I bought the Monte it was a toss up between it and the Grand National. I thought then and still think now that the Monte was a better thought out car, a real muscle car for the day, L69, big Corvette cat with duals, 3.73 posi, full throttle AC cutout, 4 speed auto. Probably my all time favourite car.
