Pontiac Posts Only!!

I would hope that a Pontiac post would be the only add on this site. Any other posts would ask where to post adds that would get the attention that would relate to there cars that are not Pontiacs. It makes it hard to get through the posts and I am not trying to cause any problems, but the Pontiac content is what makes this sight good. I would hope this isn't a used car web site?no

I thought, that there was a good selection, of "places" to post Pontiac and non- Pontiac items for sale..(List is on Main Page)   Do you want them to be accessed, by going to the "for sale" section only?  I sometimes look, and just skip it , if I am not interested.... Maybe Todd will explain how the sections work.. I look at all "recent posts", but you can look, at only the sections you are interested in... Good Question  Carl

I hope this sight is a Pontiac sight because it could easily become a car domain with no theme. We all have other interests but this is a Pontiac sight. To answer your question non-Pontiac posts shouldn't be under new posts. Want to buy two 89 chev full size vans? Not what you want on this sight I would think?

I hear what you are saying.... I have no problem, looking for "non Pontiac" articles in "another section" of the site...  I guess we will have some input on thisbiggrin   I guess thats why they call Todd, the great Moderator

I would think that this is not a new topic. I love this sight and don't want it to be watered down.

As Carl stated, I imagine Todd will speak up on this.

Just guessing but I would think his original intent for Non-Pontiacs For Sale was for members here who have other stuff to sell. I don't imagine he wants it to be a classified free for all for Saabs, golf carts, ceramic ornaments and used lingerie. Hopefully it never gets to that point either.

I agree   as I said, I have no problem with  trying to keep it as close as possible to the Pontiac theme... Todd has been very flexible...

As you all know, I have a Canadian exported 65 RHD Malibu and this is the closest I can get to real info and suggestions. biggrinI have made a suggestion to Todd that the Canadian RHD exports be placed under a unique section. It would break my heart to stop the great interaction that is now taking place. disbeliefThere is so much to share!aww

If you go to the main page you will see everything is organized in separate areas. When you click "recent posts" will you get all the articles that have been posted since your last visit from each area. Unfortunately there is no way for you to filter out posts from the lounge. To avoid getting off topic posts, click on the area you wish to read in (eg: 1970 + Canadian Pontiac General Forum). The "lounge" is set aside for non topic posts. Non Canadian Pontiac Parts and Cars for sale areas were set up due to demand for an area to post these types of parts and cars.

Todd, I think you have done a fantastic job organizing the topic areas which are 99.8% Pontiac, Acadian or Beaumont related.

The thing about the "Lounge" posts is that we do have other interests and that section is great because on here I actually feel like I know the other guys who post rather than like other sites where all guys do is complain, argue, flame one another and spew out testosterone in an effort to show how much more car knowledge they have.

I think you will find that other forums with "lounges" or "off topics" have a high number of posts in those areas too.

Am I right in thinking if you are not logged in, then the Lounge won't come up when you click "recent posts"?

Yes, that and a some of the other forums. I thought about closing some of the other forums to non members. I toyed with the for sale areas thinking perhaps members should have first crack. Thoughts?

idea.gif  The light just went on for me.....When I read "Non-Canadian Pontiac" I think GTO (except 70 & 73), Grand Prix, Bonneville, Catalina, SD cars, etc... I don't think Hemi GTX, maybe that's all that's needed, a section for selling used cars of other makes and the parts that go with them. More work for Todd though.

I totally enjoy the camaraderie here on CP!. There's certainly less BS also a more friendly atmosphere than other sites I hang out on also I really enjoy the uniquely Canadian feeling too!.

I'd lean towards certain forums being accessible to members only plus like the Yenko site would only allow only a couple 'For Sale' ads before membership is req'd..

When I clicked on this thread I thought it was gonna' be about a bunch of Pontiac 2 Dr. Post cars!.

i think our pontiacs/acadians are in the same bowl as all the oshawa built GM cars (chevelle ,cutlass)and i view them with the same rarity they are.
even thought the chevelle isnt pontiac, who can resist?

Strictly an opinion but my guess is you would get a higher percentage of people who would join and never participate. They would only joint to be able to access the classifieds. Not that it would be a bad thing necessarily if they did that.

I think the site is just fine the way it is.  Canadian Pontiacs brought us here and that continues to be the vast majority of content on this site, but we are all car guys as well that like to talk about other topics.  I think the balance is good and it's just like TV, no one forces you to watch any channel....

I think 68sd has touched on the core issue of this website. MADE IN CANADA!!!! biggrin This is the proud heritage of GM of Canada.  Over and above standard Chevrolet production there are Pontiacs, Acadians, Beaumonts and then the very rare RHD Pontiacs, Acadians, Beaumonts, Parisiennes, Impalas, Chevelles and ChevyII's that were exported in CKD form.

As I said in second post  "A good question" biggrin  Looks like we "like the site" as it runs, and it been confirmed, (as a reminder), that we can use the recent post section, or go directly, to the section that interests us....C2

No complaints here. It's hard to design a well-organized, functional web site, and Todd has done a very good job. So what if a picture of  a Studebaker, an Impala, a Buick, a Meteor or even a Tucker shows up from time to time if it is interesting to someone? And esepcially if it's Canadian. There's very little non-Pontiac material on here anyway. One person's opinion ...

I think its very well organized as it is... its a-la-carte, pick the topic you are interested in! letting members sell some non-pontiac stuff to others on here is a nice courtesy...and allows more sharing of hard to find 'other' parts among members....

Good job Todd, and whoever else helps in the background to keep this site running!
