We talked about Beaumont conversions before and we know GMC and Pontiac had a close relationship so why no Pontiac version of the half truck. These photos show us they thought about it for the past 50 years!
When I found that picture of the Grand Am it said that a few were built as Le Mans for GMC to evaluate. The Grand Am version was done later by Tom Goad and his team in the picture at Pontiac. Tom Goad has the only engineering car made as a 73 Grand Am Ram Air SD-455 wagon. They did the Le Mans Camino as a restoration project and added the 1980 Grand Am front end. I'll have to search for that story again, I think it was in Hemmings.
ive seen that pic of the 59 before and was thinking it would be really cool to el poncho a full size wagon!!?? I do alot of reno's so a big bed would be good!!
I like the looks of the 59 and the Grand Am. I question as to how well the 59 would have sold considering the El Camino's low production figures. I think the Grand Am version would have sold well. The others, just as well they weren't built.
