68 Parisienne 2+2

About a year ago I bought a 1968 Parisienne 2+2, the car has 80,000 original miles and has spent its entire life in Southern Alberta. It is nothing very special, came out of the factory with a 275 hp 327 engine and a 400 automatic transmission. The engine was replaced in the mid 80s with a 350 because of an unspecified mechanical issue. As a fun project I have built a 383 which time permitting I will to put in the car this summer. The paint on the car was in very poor condition so I had it redone in the original colour. Some of the interior is new; seat covers, carpet, head liner, and package shelf. My goal is just to do a little cruising and enjoy.

That is a beautiful Poncho!

I think those colors may even be the same as a car my uncle had when I was a kid. It sure looks the same.

NICE CAR!!!

That is NICE ! There is a 68 Grande Parisienne around Niagara Falls that looks very similar. Same colour, vinyl top, skirts. Of course the grille is a little different and is the interior, but I love the colour scheme. I really like the skirts and I wanted to put some on my 68 2+2, but the aftermarket quarters wheel well openings aren't flared properly to accept skirts.

Oh well.

Welcome to group !!

Very nice car, we'd be happy to have you display it at the "Alberta Iron Indians - All Pontiac Show" June 13.  I've never seen a 68 2+2 in person, just in pictures.  I see the firewall is painted body color, 68 must have been the last year for that as 69's are black.

Sorry to hijack the thread.  Where did you get aftermarket quarters for your 68? How did they turn out?  I'm looking for advice as my 68 Paris. Conv. has rust issues.

The 1/4's were put on before I bought the car, but I seem to recall that they came for Cross Canada. They have warehouses in Windsor, Toronto, Edmonton and Vancouver.

Here is the website :  http://www.crosscanadaparts.com.

Good luck

I have the All Pontiac Show marked on my calendar for June 13 Th. As long as nothing else comes up I will be attending. As for the original 327 cid engine, it was lost to the mists of time, no idea what happened to it. The 383 I am working on is the correct engine for my car. The block and heads are from a 1968 vintage 275 hp 327 which came out of an Impala. If anyone is interested in the crankshaft and rods from the 327 I started with just drop me a line.

I also could use some 1\4 panels..i checked out the cross canada thing..it hase more stuff than i thought, however the parts for a parisian only go as far back as 1980..bummer. I guess that mig welder  {wife thought was a wast of money}..will come in handy after all.

Welcome Vaughan!

"Nothing Special" you say? ... no

/download.spark?ID=476102&aBID=118110

Well, I'd say the opposite, your car looks pretty special to my eye. Beautifull and rare. And I'd think with a 68' 2+2 in that colour combo you won't see many.

Cheers, Mark
