Well, is it just me or is this a Granada Gold big block SD car????

We need cowl tag info off it. Has anyone contacted him? If not, I may have to.

I just called him up. The car is a roller, sadly there's no vin or cowl tag on it. I'm going to go look at it tomorrow. I'll let you know what I find,

Well, the hood is anyway.
Should be able to tell if its an SD or not.

As to if its an early or late car:  check the ashtray for the metal strip.  early cars dont have it, late ones do.
Hmmmm, how else could we determain its build date.

Oh, check the build date on the drivers rear frame rail(ouside face just infront of the bumper bracket,  light sandpaper will do the trick.

Maybe there is a line tag in the rear seat springs?  wishfull thinking,  there could also be one under the dash above the speedo, or even above the heat controls or glovebox.

The seller said it's an original "stick car" with bucket setas- Is ther anything different on the floor pan, ie-reinforcements for the bucket seats?
Did the 67's have the vin stamped anywhere on the body like my 69 Chevelle, behind the heater core box?
As you can see in the pics, it also had the quarter panel louver trim.

There would be console and bucket brackets on the floor.  Also look for a welded on Zbar bracket on the frame below the mastercylinder.  All this stuff should look "factory" and not cobbled together.  Steering column to firewall plate should also have a extra hole for clutch linkage and a boot.

There is a vin on the frame, but it is on the top pass side behind the body box mount(rear of wheel tub) cant see with body on.

As for the heater box...I am not sure if that is true of 64-67 cars.  Carl may know?

The stamping on the frame should look like this although obviously a different date!

Carl,
What makes you say it's a Granada Gold car? I can't see any hint of gold, but my eyes aren't what they used to be!
BTW, how's the water level coming along?

It could be an illusion but beside the drivers side headlight bezel there is a vertical strip that looks like paint and I am thinking it looks gold. Anyone else see it, or is it white maybe?

The water is coming along, thanks. And coming along, and coming along, and coming along............

Still about 2 feet of water on the road I normally drive on to work I'm afraid.

This is how the floor should look except for that one notch cut out of an otherwise nice oval. Ignore the blue hole, that appears to be something underneath the car.

Just got home from checking this car out about an hour ago. Even if it had the vin and body tag on it, you'd need a very strong stomach, ( and wallet) to save this car. It's a shame.

It's an cosole/automatic car, not a 4 speed car.( Console's gone.) The steering column, what's left of it is laying on a non original bucket seat, and whats left of the floor pan.
The dash bezel is messed up. (Beaumontguru, the ashtray is missing) All the underdash wiring is hanging down, didn't really look closely to see if it was cut.

It's got a Buick engine, 350-4bbl bolted to mounts that were welded to the frame. I don't think the rear diff is original, but I suppose it could be. It's a 10 bolt. Everything's very scaly/crusty underneath, you can almost feel the frame flexing in your hand when you grasp it.

Carl, as for color, you were right, it's the same color as the last picture you posted. The rear seat was sitting in a box and was white or parchment type color.

The absolute most I would pay for this car would be $500, and it would be a parts donor at best with no vin or paperwork.

On the plus side, the seller was a nice guy, quite talkative and a Beaumont-Chevelle fan.
He also had a really nice 36 Chevy coupe with a 6-71 blown 400ci SBC.
I'm going back down on Friday or Saturday to pick up a 64 Beaumont front clip that he's tired of looking at and was going to toss. It's not perfect, but it's way too good to throw out.

Sorry for the bad news on the 67....

I think I'm going to pick this car up next week. I went to Saint John last night after work, to pick up that 64 Beaumont front clip. Mike, the seller reduced the price on the Beaumont to a
price I can live with. I do need the rearend in it for my 65 Chevelle. ( the rear in the Beau is a 10 bolt)

Who's our frame numbers expert out there?
I brought this car home to dismantle.I'd like to prove or dis-prove whether this car was an SD396 car or not. The vin and body tags have been removed, presumably to be placed on a much nicer body.
These are the numbers I found on the left rear outside of the frame, in front of the rear bumper bracket. ( Bear in mind, this is an eastern car ) Looking directly at the frame, reading from top to bottom:

     PARISH
    3893  29
  5  2  7  2

(These were stamped upside down)

I'm going to pull what's left of the body off the frame tomorrow to try and find the vin. If it's a real SD car, I'll post the number so we all know that any other "SD" cars out there with the same vin are re-bodies. evileye
