Baby's getting some front end work done

I had pondered doing the ball joints and control arm bushings myself. Heck, Mark (CDNPONT) even dropped over his spring compressor and ball joint fork. The thought of doing all this on jack stands really didn't appeal to me so...

I got Tiny to do it! Jeff started on her this afternoon. After hearing about the fun he had getting the original control arm bushings out, I'm really glad I had him do it.

While Jeff worked hard. (that's him giving the control arm a good cleaning)

the pain in the ass owner (me) decided this was a great time to take some undercarriage shots. I think Jeff appreciated me staying the hell out of the way!

I won't bore you all with floor pan shots however it was nice to see the car underneath without being flat on my back!
I'm sure I'll feel the difference with the new bushings and ball joints. Next step will be a good alignment.

Todd

Car looks good even up in the air. I am sure you will have a new feel when Tiny is finished doing his magic. Money well spent.

Well I have to admit I took my control arms off (and put them back on) myself (I have the spring compressor and pickle forks etc.) but I did take them to a shop to have the old bushings replaced with the new urethane bushings I bought. The shop owner confessed that his man had a hell of a time doing the job. The owner was so interested in my 56 that he made me promise to bring it by when it was running (soon!). And he only charged me $20 US for the whole job, both upper and lower control arms!!!!!!!!!

Those floorpan shots are most sought after, especially when you are working in that zone!  Need some tips!!! "Steal with the eye"

Elementary Dr Pete, The Red Lines need a different approach than with white walls.  Red line tyres are overshadowed by Trim Rings!!aww

You got it Johann...Redlines triumph over trim rings!. nod.gif

If the car had Whitewalls, that's a whole different story and the stock look w/ rings appropriate..
Personally I still prefer the no ring look though...like a Judge!.

They fly off just like in the movies!!!

Take a look at the Malibu wheel set up!  That is a genuine cow catcher set up for a Saturday Night at the movies.  Todd can take his redliners to the Qtr mile strip!!!
