I agree the best !!! I went to the Movie's to se that with a budy when it first came out, we sat first row and we both got motion sickness on the part were they were going up and down the hills. Looked great on the big screen.

I've called myself a car nut since I was about 12 and believe it or not, until 10 minutes ago I'd never actually seen the famous chase!
Not bad but it sure has it's typical Hollywood chase scene irregularities! Notice the SS396 Chevelle at about the halfway point? Same white Firebird a few times too.
My favourite is still the chase in the Blues Brothers only because they wreck so many cars and it lasts so long!

They only did it once so they had several cameras set up for different angles thats why you see some of the same cars, just different vantage point. I once read that the camera car was a stripped down Camaro SS.

No way man the best of the best is the original ''GONE IN 60 SECONDS'' over 300 cars destroyed really bad acting but without a doubt the best chase scene ever 65s/d
It's a great chase. I'd love to see it on a movie screen. The Gone in 60 Seconds chase has all those great late 60's Mopar police cars. I picked up The French Connection earlier this year. Some great stuff in the extra features about that chase scene with the Lemans and the elevated train. I still want to get 2 Lane Blacktop on DVD, i'm just to frugal to buy it...so expensive in my opinon.
I picked up the original gone in 60 secs earlier this year on DVD at walmart. it came with extra footage and interviews. It was made by a stunt actor with his own money and cars that he bought from impounds and auctions, very good if you can find it. The original blues brothers movie was in the guinness book of records for the most cars destroyed in a movie. For christmas last year i got Vanishing Point and Dirty Mary Crazy Larry on DVD. while i'll toss Bullit on the VCR every now and then but if i really want to get my fix i'll set up Moonshine Highway with Kyle MacLachlan and Randy Quaid on the old machine. turn on my 2 power amps driving 4 cervin vega D9's in each corner of the rec room and sit myself in the middle of the room as they race down the moutain. excuse me i have to go set up the VCR.
Speaking of Gone in 60 Seconds. That was Toby Halicki that made the flick and he did the movie Junkman also. He was filming another movie in 1989 when he died doing a stunt. He was a big collector of all kinds of toys. They auctioned off all of the stuff years ago. There was tons of it, including an 82 Firebird seen in Junkman that had something like 5000 miles on it. I've got Junkman. I also picked up Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry last year at a good price. If they had Blacktop for rent i could copy it...but you didn't hear that.

I love it! I went to the theatre to see it and felt like I was in the back seat!!
One movie to check out that has a great chase is THE SEVEN UPS not to many people know about it also watch MCQ if you want to find the best car chase web site go to varaces.com
the driver of the bullit charger and the 7-ups pontiac are both the same guy, stunt man 'bill hickman.' he also drove the stunt lemans chase scenes for hackman in the french connection and also played a federal agent in the film.
